Miss Hinako cleared her throat. Of course, she had also turned into a cute little mermaid with a pink tail. "Could we please get back to our lesson now?"
"You've got to be kidding!" Daisuke blurted out. "We've been changed into fish people and you still want to hold class?"
"Actually, the term is 'merfolk'," Yuka corrected him.
Miss Hinako didn't say a word and instead pulled out a single coin.
"HAPPO-FIVE-YEN-SATSU!"
The young mer-boy groaned as Miss Hinako drained him and he sunk down on the rock that had once been his desk.
Miss Hinako, now a beautiful and curvaceous mermaid, put the coin away and smiled at her students. "Now, back to class, shall we?"
The fish-tailed boys and girls hurried to get back to their desks/rocks and listened intently to what their teacher told them.
"This sucks..." Ranma grumbled. "I should go out and help my little sister against that bully... I hope she'll be all right."
"Relax, Ranma," Ukyo whispered. "I'm pretty sure she'll now what to do. She is a Saotome, after all..."
Ranma smirked. "Yeah, I guess you're right, Ucchan..." She then looked over to Akane, who had a blank stare on her face.
"Um... Akane? Is something wrong?"
Akane was still busy feeling the scales of her fishtail. She then looked up at them. "I... I can swim..." she muttered.
Ranma and Ukyo facefaulted.
"Dammit, open up!" Ranko grumbled as she tried to stem a window open, using a metal bar she had found on the roof. "It's not budging... oh well, I guess I have to use the old-fashioned way..." She flew back up to the roof.
Kyoko came flying around the corner. "Stop flying away, Saotome! We've got a score to settle! Where is that annoying girl?"
Ranko was standing in the middle of the roof, her hands raised high above her head, her eyes closed in concentration.
'I hope this works...' she thought.
Then she opened her eyes and shouted: "ANAM EREHPS!"
A glowing ball of pure magic appeared in the palms of her cupped hands. With a resolute gesture, she hurled the magical projectile down... and it blasted a sizeable hole in the middle of the roof.
Ranko grinned. "Saotome Witch Rule Numer One: If there isn't a way in, create one!" She then looked over to where she had placed her broomstick. "Sorry, Kamikaze, but it looks like I can't take you with me... water is not good for you. I'm coming back as soon as I can, okay?"
She sat down at the edge of the hole, and carefully slipped into the water down below. As soon as her body got engulfed by the water, she transformed into a red-tailed mermaid herself.
"Now all I have to do is to find the others and guide them out of here..." she murmured. "I don't know for how long Kyoko's spell will last, but I don't want to risk Oniichan and the others to be trapped in here for several weeks."
She flipped around her fin and started swimming down the cavern tunnel that had once been the corridor of Furinkan High's uppermost floor.
Kyoko arrived just a short moment after Ranko had left. She could see her broom and the hole and smirked.
"So, you're going to play hide and seek? That's fine with me..."
She leaned down at the edge of the hole and concentrated.
"A mythical transformation spell, focussed on the water inside the building, huh? Well, saves me the trouble of transforming myself into a sea creature..."
She put her mother's broom down as well and jumped into the hole. Once inside, she also transformed... but unlike everyone else, her legs did not turn into a colorful fish tail, but into a squirming mass of black tentacles.
"Yuck!" she grimaced as she looked down at herself. "Oh, very funny, Saotome... in your eyes, I'm the 'evil sea witch', huh? Well, let's find out if I can still use my powers like that..."
She focussed her powers and chanted: "TLOB FO SSENKRAD!"
An arrow of dark, purple energy shot out of her fingers and hit some corals that were growing on the wall. In a matter of seconds, they withered away and only a crumpled mess was left behind.
Kyoko grinned. "Ranko is going to enjoy this spell... I've searched Mom's 'Book of Evil' for all the nasty spells I could use against her... now she's mine!"
With a nasty grin on her face, the young sea witch swam after her rival... only to get entangled in some seaweed.
Kyoko snarled. "Stupid tentacles!"
