"It was part of a deal that I made with an outland god," admitted Erevan.
"Which one?" asked Corellon with a sinking feeling.
"Hlal, I think," said Erevan.
"I see," said Corellon, twitching slightly.
"Oh, Hlal, haven't seen her for awhile," said Nebelun.
"You made deals with how many other trickster gods?" asked Corellon.
"Oh, a few," answered Erevan, watching the two tokens advancing themselves. "A couple of others heard somehow I was more or less poking your ex in a nether region and more or less demanded a part in the whole thing. You'd be amazed how many people wanted to kick Araunshee in the nether quarters."
"No I wouldn't," said Corellon, knowing full well that the drow under Lolth's guidance had managed to piss off almost every other pantheon in every sphere of interest she had.
"So, who's this 'blue thunder' fellow?" asked Nebelun.
"Ah, Foul Sorcerer Saotome, you have..." The Blue Thunder's voice trailed off as he stared at the woman with Saotome.
"Wow, Tatewaki Kuno speechless, I think that's a first," remarked Ranma.
"He looks unclean or something," said Elle.
"Have you further ensorcelled the pigtailed girl, you fiend?" asked Kuno.
"Interesting," said Elle. "Enough of my features must have mapped over for him to see the resemblence."
"Sayeth thou what, fair maid?" asked Kuno, apparently working through some sort of twisted logic chain.
"That I was indeed the 'pigtailed girl' if I understand your term correctly," said Elle, "but that this is my true form. As to Ranma here, he hasn't even had the first lesson in weaving magic."
"I see," said Kuno thoughtfully. "I understand!"
"That'd be a first," said Ranma.
"This is the true form of the pigtailed girl, who has freed herself of the foul Sorcerer's bindings this much!" said Kuno. "Fear not, my love, for I shall endeavor to break the rest of these enchantments?"
"You mean the one keeping me alive?" asked Elle, a little confused.
"WHAT?!" startled Kuno. "What say thee?"
"Yeah, there's an enchantment on me linking myself with Ranma that keeps me alive," said Elle. "I'm a little surprised you can see it. You don't look like any of the wizards I've ever met. Not that I can completely remember them."
Kuno stared with his mouth open as his mind tried to process these statements.
"Oh well, thank you for your concern," said Elle, thinking that bowing was something that these humans did in these sort of things.
"Huh," said Ranma as they passed the now-staring-at-nothing Kuno with his still-open mouth. "I think you just locked up his brain."
"I didn't know human brains could lock up," mused Elle as they continued past. She looked back in concern and was rewarded as the boy slowly closed his mouth and lowered his wooden sword. Though he was still staring off into the distance. How very strange.
A little while longer and the two were standing in front of a wooden gate.
"'To challenge owner' - we're here to fight the owner?" asked Elle.
"Ah, no, this is kinda where I've been staying," said Ranma.
"Oh good, I was hoping for more of a chance to sit down and read the briefing materials," said Elle, lifting a couple of books out of her backpack.
"Those are manga," noted Ranma. Odd how that gave him the feeling that things were going to go even weirder than usual.
