Strands of raven hair fell across the glittering sea of deep blue eyes, catching the silver light of the moon shining overhead. Lightly, he ran his thumb across the glossy surface of the card, before a glaring sheen of moonlight flared up across it. With a frown, Ranma Saotome looked up at the world around him, and for a moment, was satisfied with looking up at the moon with the same eyes he once had.
A chill wind rolled out across him, setting the braid of his pigtail fluttering slightly in the wind as his head would raise slowly up. Head slanted back, he pursed his lips for but a moment, a solemn melancholy etched across his features. In that moment, he felt almost as he once was.
He didn't know how else to put it. There was a welcome emptiness inside of him, the constant, gnawing lack of things he had grown too accustomed to for his tastes. An emptiness, that everyone had, but, never seemed to know until they had it filled.
Quietly then he moved beneath the comfort of night's shadow, cast by this simple random bridge, caught amidst stone cobbled streets and soft green grass. Lain out, he would feel the grass yielding beneath him as his head came back to rest against the mortared stone that made the bridge's base. Before him, the shifting waters of a brook, washed against his ears, as the sounds of it slowly making its contented way down its own winding path lightly soothed against his soul.
