Cat up a tree : Delegate! [Episode 211535]

by Kestral

Ranma knew that you only had so many hours in the day.

Ranma knew that you could only do so much yourself.

Ranma knew that as things went, even as amazing as he was, it might not be enough. He still didn't have many ideas as to the HOW and WHY but he'd glimpsed that dead Earth in the future. Not gonna happen on HIS watch.

Nope. He was just going to do something that people had done for long time. Need a specialist? Freaking GET a specialist. Or make one. Six of one, half dozen of the other. That sort of thing.

He understood the basics long before he had gotten the Great Will. He was a martial artist. He didn't play at being a doctor or anything because you left something like that to the specialist.

So he was a smilodon with vast magical powers but he couldn't do, for example, toaster repair.

So he'd come up with one thing because he was Japanese and he knew what Real Wealth was like. He'd also come up with a few other things that kind of fit into that whole thing.

His mother was now, among other things, an inventor. She'd made her fortune in the medical and pharmaceuticals field, and he'd gone fairly overboard in making the twenty-something newly-married Nodoka Saotome an intuitive genius in fields like biomechanics, chemistry, biochemistry, neurochemistry, genetics, medical techology, biotechnology, and a few dozen other sciences that had been among the many that had come up when he'd focussed the Great Will on making her a 'world reknowned expert in a few medical fields' - and so she was.

Of course, having made vast strides forward in the medical fields such that she'd perfected cures for four forms of cancer and a vaccine for Alzheimer's - she had begun accruing wealth.

There was itty bitty rich, there was vague rich like the Kunos were before he'd altered them, and then there was THIS level of wealth.

In the hills near Tokyo, there was a large sprawling mansion. It was not the level of wealth the Kuno family once had. No, this was rather more.

The mansion complex also contained a dojo, four sets of laboratories, three factories, a hangar for airplanes, a private security force, a small inn with hot springs for visiting dignataries, and a few other things. Because Nodoka Saotome had also come up with a method of putting the common cockroach on the Endangered Species List that showed every sign of being safe for humans and pets, she was also monitored by several governments.

She had also come up with a device that would take genetic scans of a couple, and then display probabilities and images as to what children would be most likely to result.

That her son's data was on permanent record and that she amused herself by checking out girls of about his age with a small version of that device was dismissed as harmless eccentrism of course.

"WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!" asked young Makoto Kino. Said question erupting out of her when she looked rather poleaxed.

"Take the note I gave you," said the tiger. "Show... what the heck was that butler guy's name?"

"How should I know?" asked Makoto.

"Hayate, I think," said Ranma.

"That's correct," said a shadow, causing Makoto to turn and begin running except a full-grown smilodon populous snagged her skirt and told her to cut that out.

Which was followed by a little girl fainting dead away.

"I really suck at getting girls to calm down," noted Ranma aloud.

"I don't recall meeting any size-changing speaking cats," mumbled Hayate. "I'm pretty sure I would have remembered that." Picking the note up off the ground caused an eyebrow to raise. "Much less one that knows Master Ranma."

"Look, she's someone important, she's..." Ranma looked for a way to put it.

"A magical girl or superhero of some kind?" asked Hayate.

"Nah, I don't think so," said Ranma-tiger, "though that would explain a few things. I think she's just an orphan who lost her family. Not sure how."

"Ah, a superhero who lost their family through an accident or foul play and then goes on to become a hero due to various factors involved," said Hayate. "I'm familiar with the basic storyline."

"Okay," said Ranma.

"We really need to work on your penmanship, Master Ranma," complained Hayate as he examined the note.

"Who?" said Ranma after his fur had gone back down from being poofed out. "I'm just a magical lion sorta kinda. Oh gotta go!"

"Indeed," said Hayate as he watched the tiger leap off into the distance. "Well, let's get you inside. The Lady Nodoka will have a few ideas on how to handle this."

Indeed, she did:
