A Gathering of Sparks: Moon 'Walker: Deviation from the Norm [Episode 211687]

by Animethropologist

It was a familiar scene to those who know Sailor Moon: Metallia, in giant-Beryl-in-a-flower form, looming over a royally garbed Usagi, who in turn held the Crescent Moon Wand, capped with the Ginzuishou.

As per canon, the fiend’s stolen energy clashed with the reality-reshaping powers of the crystal.

As it was written, drawn, and animated, the spirits of the fallen Senshi came to reinforce their princess with their power and will.

As we all know, Metallia was defeated, but at great cost.

And as Takeuchi willed it, Usagi made one final wish on the Ginzuishou with her last breath. However, this time, she did not wish for a normal life for her friends and her. Instead, in that final moment, she thought ‘Please, make things as they were supposed to be!’

Magic wishes are tricky things. Even with a benevolently inclined wishing device, wording is key. In canon, the wish wound back time by a year and erased all relevant memories from everyone involved, save the mooncats. This wish, on the other hand, might have restored the Silver Millenium, wiped out human civilization, or not behave any differently than the canonical retcon, depending on how “supposed to be” was interpreted.

None of this happened, as the Usagi making this wish bore within her a dormant spark. The Ginzuishou, in its ineffable, magical wisdom, decided that its user was supposed to be awakened as a planeswalker. It could do this, certainly, but it could require a lot of power.

The souls and lingering energies strewn about D-Point were gathered together. The portal between the Dark Kingdom and Earth was sealed shut as the power keeping it open was siphoned off. Even some physical matter was consumed, reverting the mass back into pure energy. Finally, in an oddly appropriate reversal, the crystal sacrificed itself, infusing its matrix of supercharged potential with the dormant spark.

Ignition.

The flash of light was, suitably enough, visible from the ruins of the Moon Palace. For an instant, an intact portrait of Queen Serenity seemed to bow her head in the gleaming flare.

When the burst receded, it left a perfectly round crater, a fully sealed youma dimension, and a marked absence of any bodies, dead or alive.

By the Gates of Time, Sailor Pluto fell to her knees and wept.
