"We are the Oni." The voice boomed across the world in every way possible. From radio, to television, etc. This was to ensure the entirety of the world below the Oni's mighty ships would learn of their situation as quickly as possible.
"And we have come to conquer your planet."
The reaction was immediate.
Around the world, millions, hundreds of millions, possibly billions of people all froze up in shock and horror at the same moment.
This didn't last long.
"But we will give you a chance. We call it the Tag Race."
The world held onto every word as these "Oni" explained in great detail who they were, where they came from, and what hope the humans had of repelling their invasion.
As the world listened, the more bewildered they became. A champion was to be chosen, and he or she would have to do what?
"The name of this champion has been randomly selected among all sapient earth life-forms. This champion is a boy called Saotome."
Saotome Ranma dug into his third bowl of ramen with his usual amount of gusto. He finished quickly, paid the old woman tending to the stall, and went on his way back home to the Tendo Dojo.
This alien nonsense had quickly lost his interest, and he had been wandering around town since. After all, they had nothing to do with him, and as a technologically advanced alien species, he saw no reason to pay attention to them.
'They probably didn't even have any cool exotic martial arts techniques.' He thought with a sigh.
Of course the thought of aliens was a cool one, but until he actually met one, life would likely go on
"Heh." He muttered darkly to himself. "Wouldn't surprise me if pops engaged me to an alien princess or something." It wouldn't be the first surprise engagement, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.
"Probably would'a asked for a couple loaves of bread, maybe some alien food." He continued with some mirth. While it always pissed him off when it happened, he could look back on his father's screw ups with some measure of amusement.
Turning the last corner, the Tendo dojo came into full view.
And so did the crowd of people gathered around the dojo.
Reporters, police, military, and even some normal folk were all staring at him in complete silence.
A quick glance up confirmed his suspicions. One of the alien spaceships were parked right above the Tendo Dojo.
Ranma instantly understood what was going on.
"Pops totally sold me to marry an alien princess, didn't he?" He deadpanned.
And so Saotome Ranma found himself in a dilemma.
