"So this is Nerima?" Shampoo thought. It seemed like a nice enough place. The only trouble was, she didn't know Japanese. Oh well, it wasn't really necessary. All she had to do was wait for the red haired girl, and then... And then what? She'd taken the time on the boat over to read through the diary some more. Before, there hadn't been any time to read too far ahead, but it was hardly as if she was wasting time on the boat that she could have been using to travel. There had been a lot to think about, not least her future "airen". The predictions had turned a little funny, there. Suddenly, she was in pursuit of the red haired devil, and a handsome, powerful martial artist that had been able to knock her out. Both at once. It was worrying that she would be defeated by two separate outsiders like that, but at least she'd get a strong husband out of it. Or at least, that was what she thought until she read that she returned home for advice on what to do about a supposed conflict in their laws, but she couldn't see any such thing! Kill the girl, marry the boy. A child could understand, so why would she end up so confused?
But that wasn't the only concern. She had a rival for her future husband's attention. No matter. She'd find this supposed rival, and crush her. After all, Shampoo is a Joketsuzoku warrior, and she had knowledge of the future! What does this rival have to compare to that? No outsider girl could stand against her with all these odds stacked in her favour. Soon, she would return home not in shame, but with the head of a cheeky, greedy red head and the body of a powerful husband. She could hardly wait! But first, she had to get a place to stay. According to the diary, she'd have to wait a little over a week before the girl or her future airen showed up. So much preparation to do, and so much time to do it with.
"So what are you doing in these parts, Miss Shampoo?"
She had to think about that one. How could she tell the Doctor she was planning to kill someone that could very well be a regular patient of his? She needed him on her side for this. He was the only one she knew that spoke Mandarin in this area.
"I have been sent on a quest for something of ours that was taken," my own pride, she finished internally. "I have reason to believe it is either nearby, or will be soon. While I search, I need a place to stay and money for food. Can you help me?"
"Well, I could use an assistant." He looked over the training she'd received in the village, as Shampoo considered her position. She was always more a warrior than a healer, but she knew enough to assist. Any warrior had to be trained in the basics of the healing art, as you never knew just when you'd need to treat yourself or your friends. This Doctor seemed impressed enough, thankfully. "Very well, Miss Shampoo. I'll show you to your room, so you can-"
A voice drifted in from the entrance. Unfortunately, Shampoo didn't understand it, as the voice was speaking Japanese. But as soon as she heard the voice, something very strange happened. The Doctor's glasses fogged up, and he took on an expression that she found eerily familiar. But she couldn't quite place it. That goofy smile didn't fit with the image of the friendly local Doctor their conversation had painted.
And then, a young woman walked into the room, carrying a book. She walked up to Tofu, and the two started talking in Japanese, so Shampoo had no clue what they were talking about... Then the girl gestured towards Shampoo, and he turned towards her, and slapped her on the back. Almost immediately, Shampoo fell to the floor in a great deal of pain, while Tofu laughed in a strange, unrealistic and awkward way. "It's alright, this doesn't count as a defeat. I can still stand and move... barely..." she thought. "But still, to so casually do that, he must be a great warrior as well as a great healer... But according to the diary, my destined husband won't arrive for some days yet, so it can't be him. I shall recommend another Amazon comes to claim him when I return home."
Struggling to her feet, Shampoo backed away from her new employer, and watched as the girl giggled at the Doctor's silly antics. She might not have been able to understand the language, but even Shampoo could tell, by that tone, he was babbling. Without warning he leaped on top of the desk, and started doing some weird dance with lots of kicks and gestures. "He's mad!" she whispered. But now she knew where she'd seen it before... That one summer, when Mousse ate that bad berry, he'd acted like this around her. He even managed to wrap the former hidden weapons master up in chains, which was how he'd convinced everybody he was good enough to learn the style. Eyesight or no. But the Mooga-Booga berry shouldn't be found in Japan, which meant... She looked at the oblivious woman that triggered the character transformation. He had to get her out of here before... before he tapped another pressure point and really beat her this time! Almost tripping over her still shaky legs, she dashed over to the woman, and as politely as she could manage, ushered her out of the building. This was a very difficult effect to achieve when you can't actually talk to the person to do it. The woman bowed, and went off in what Shampoo could only assume was the direction of her own house.
Having gotten rid of her, Shampoo returned to the office, expecting Tofu to be a little bit calmer by now. No such luck, unfortunately, as he dashed past her while carrying a skeleton on his back. Oh yes, he had it lots worse than Mousse ever did.
"I'll show myself to my room, then," Shampoo shouted, to nobody in particular. With nothing else to do, she picked up her bags and went upstairs.
Since she was alone, now was as good a time as any to double check the contents of her diary.
