"Do we have any idea how magic even works here? I tried a faerie fire and got nada," said Lii.
"According to this," said Elle, holding up a manga, "magic operates by different values. In being translated to this universe, we should be able to access our full magical powers once we find the proper mechanism."
"Yes, princess," said Quu.
"'Princess'?" asked Elle.
"Well, you're not a goddess anymore, and we're your elite ninja squad or something," said Quu. "Therefore 'princess' is appropriate within the setting."
"HEAL!" tried Elle, throwing her hands forward and concentrating.
Lii shrugged at the apparent lack of success, reached into the patient's mouth and popped the gnomish device out of it. Then tossed the silly thing off to the side before rubbing human-spit off her fingers onto the victim's clothes.
clik-clik went the camera, extruding little legs before scuttling off.
"Was it supposed to do that?" asked Vee, breaking her customary silence.
"I KNEW it was a gnome contraption," said Lii.
"Maybe some 'dryad cordial'?" asked Quu, holding a bottle above the still-open mouth of the patient.
"No, though I admit turning her into a dryad might be an improvement," said Elle.
"I've got it," said Quu, rummaging around in her pack and pulling a book out. "Here we go."
