Thunder Ken: Ladies On The Mountain [Episode 213024]

by Kender

Oddly enough, Akane's biggest concern in going wasn't about herself. Oh, sure, she knew that this wasn't just another simple training trip, and would likely lead her into all sorts of trouble. But that was likely to come later, and she was only coming to visit with the girls that she'd met earlier. Rather, her worries were about her big sister, knowing that Kasumi wasn't exactly the most hardened individual. They might have gone camping before, but she still had trouble seeing the elder girl 'roughing it'.

However, as they stepped over a rise and saw the camp, her eyes widened in pleasant surprise. The place was set up fairly well, organized to make it not only stable, but comfortable for those who hadn't exactly been the outdoors type. Not that it was made to bring city comforts to the country, as training would be better suited by bare bones conditions, but it wasn't some slapped together set up either.

And there was a greeting almost as soon as she was seen by the girl with the long raven hair. "Well, hello there."

"Hi. Nice to see you again," Akane answered back and smiled. "Didn't think that we'd meet like this though."

"That's something that I'd have to agree with. But why come anyway? I thought that you were going to be doing your own thing?"

"I got invited."

"By who? Ranma?" Rei asked.

"No. Someone named 'Setsuna'."

The raven haired girl blinked slightly, almost as if she was measuring the impact those words had. "I see. But who's your friend here?"

"That's my sister, Kasumi. Kasumi, this is Rei, a friend of the boy who visited the dojo."

"Why, hello," Kasumi murmured, and bowed slightly. "It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise," the shrine priestess replied, mirroring the bow.

"I hope that we're not intruding...."

"No, you'd be the easiest visitors that we've had since we've got here."

"Oh?"

"Trust me," Rei muttered, shaking her head. "After all the surprise company that we've had so far, it'll be nice to have someone calmer now."

"If you say so."

"Come on. Let's tell the others that you're here, and see how it goes from there."

Kasumi just brightened up and nodded as she followed the younger girl, with her sister right behind her.

Nabiki wasn't quite sure about just why her little sister was so willing to go on this sudden trip, but that girl was always up for some strange event or another. If nothing else, she wasn't all that delicate, and tended to bull her way through everything, which did seem to make her a bit... odd as it was. To tell the truth though, it was actually a bit odder that Kasumi had wanted to go, but letting her big sister get out of the house once in a while was nice to have happen.

Still, she wasn't too keen on getting into that sort of mess in the first place. Going out into the country was nice enough, but it didn't feel right to just head to a mountain so that she could pitch a tent, and try to sleep in that flimsy shelter. She could manage to enjoy a bit of camping out, but she'd prefer a properly organized journey, rather than just traipsing out into the woods like some old drifter.

No, she'd prefer to stay as she was and not go stumbling about without a certainty as to what sort of situation she would face when she got there.

After all, what could she find there that would actually have any real importance to it?

"You want me to do what?" Akane asked, staring at those around her.

Setsuna gave her a reassuring smile and sighed apologetically. "It's not that we want to bring you in, but we have to."

"So you're being made to involve me."

"Perhaps I misspoke. What I meant is that we would prefer to not disrupt your life if we could. If we had our way, you could enjoy a happy life free of any problems that we could cause you."

"I guess, but that still leaves the fact that you're telling me that we need someone to fight."

"At least, we need someone who can help us," Artemis told her, and cocked his head to the side. "You could really up our chances in the fights, you know."

Seeing a cat talk was still a bit... strange for Akane, but she pushed the sensation aside as she turned to look at where her sister was happily talking to Makoto. "So, what you're saying is that we have a better chance this way."

"Something like that."

"Of course, if you don't want to do it, we can understand," Luna pointed out.

Watching her sister, the girl who'd been a maternal figure for her ever since their mother died, cheerfully chatting with these other girls, Akane considered what was being asked of her, and decided that she would:
