It had been a long day, after all.
Haruka sighed, putting away the last of her fried chicken. Thank goodness for food you just had to warm up...
"So, okay - let me get this straight. You'd lost contact with Crystal Tokyo right after you sent the Lil' Rabbit back?"
"Well, no, not really - even before that, I'd been having trouble trying to talk to them, sometimes... That's why I sent her back in such a hurry, actually. I was afraid, if I waited any more..."
"You wouldn't be able to send her back at all." Michiru nodded. "That sounds reasonable."
Well, there's been other reasons too, but... Setsuna sighed, then. Oh, what the hell.
"And now, you did manage to contact them, but..."
"...There's a baby Pluto there."
"...Oh, dear." Michiru groaned. "They - or the planet Pluto - thought you were missing for good or something?"
Setsuna groaned, faceplaming. If only things were so easy to understand or explain...
"According to King Endymion... a dis-bodied Pluto came back 'for her final report'. The Queen would have none of that, and made her a new baby body. ...She's going to be a baby for the time being, apparently."
Hotaru chuckled at that. "Being a baby isn't so bad, Setsuna-Mama - I'm glad I had a chance to be just a baby and spend time with Papa, really."
"No, but -wait." Haruka muttered. "That means - that you're going to..."
"Die again?" Setsuna sighed, yet again. "No, I don't think so... well, I'm not really sure about anything anymore, but that's not really likely, really."
The other three Outers looked at her.
"I don't get it." Haruka muttered.
"Well, you see...the Pluto without a body apparently said that - the last thing she remembered was stopping time at Mugen and saying goodbye to Chibi-Usa in spirit-form. So."
The silence after that was long indeed.
"...Uh? Setsuna?" Haruka mumbled.
"...Hmmmm?"
"Just what do you remember, anyhow?"
"Welllll.... I remember...standing at the Gates, and Sailor Moon and her friends coming through when I least expected them, and then...something...unexpected had happened, and I didn't like that at all, and...well, after that, I met you two when your Talismans were out of you and was sad, I didn't want to get too close to you because I knew that you two weren't going to make it but...but things...didn't go the way I thought they would, so...I did what I thought was best. And I died. Because I did what I thought was best. But that was OK, because...Well, Um. And then I woke up."
Michiru and Haruka stared at Setsuna then, while Hotaru simply looked sad.
"And then you woke up."
"...Um, yes."
"And where were you, when you woke up?"
"In my apartment. I'd been sleeping for a day and a half, I think. My transformation pen was right there, on my futon...I might have thought it was just a very strange dream otherwise, but... But then I could feel that... I was needed. Sailor Pluto was needed. So I went and...did Senshi stuff."
"Senshi...stuff." Haruka mumbled. "OK, so, um, Miss...?..."
"Oh, I'm Meiou Setsuna, and I'm - 23. Really."
"...Really?" It was Michiru's turn to mumble.
"Well, yes, really. I think. I mean - I don't remember being anybody else before that. Unless you count, you know - Pluto."
