That should have been easy enough in this instance. Her husband was returning to her, and she knew it, which meant that she could get ready for it. Now, she understood that Ranma wasn't that picky, but she liked appearing attractive, and enjoyed how Ranma's eyes widened when her outfits were especially nice. So, she could have found a nice set of clothes to wear, and moved on to the next step to seeing him again.
Oddly enough though, she was still standing there in her shine maiden clothes, pressing her lips together as she gazed over what she had arrayed in front of her. The clothes on the bed were understandable, given that she had to wear something... at least in public. One could have understood taking a few moments to pick between the miniskirt that would have looked good with boots, the skirt and jacket combo, or the shorts and short sleeved blouse.
On the table were some accessories like purses, bracelets... and sacred charms. A lucky arrow was even resting next to a small bow, which didn't make it look quite as sedate as it might have been. They weren't out of place on a shrine's grounds, but it was like she was preparing for an exorcism, rather than a reunion with her husband.
"What am I doing?" she muttered to herself, shaking her head so that her hair rippled like an ebony curtain. "I don't have to punish Genma right now...."
Even as she admitted that to herself, she understood that she wanted to hurt the guy. It wasn't like she was all that fond of him, and he had taken her husband away from her for this 'training journey' of his. And Ranma had little problem with seeing his old man get smacked around.
Still, she had other concerns, and knew that she wasn't about to ride into battle. This was a moment to savor and enjoy, and she truly wanted to do exactly that. Ranma would soon be in her arms, which would allow her lips to meet his once again. After so long apart, they'd have plenty to talk about, and she wasn't about to give up any more time than she had to.
"Hello, Rei," her grandfather called out as he knocked on the door. "Is everything alright?"
"It's wonderful, Grandpa. Why would you think that it wasn't?" she asked, blinking in confusion.
"You got that call, and immediately went in there. That's kind of concerning to an old man."
"You're right. Sorry...."
Grandpa Hino chuckled. "That's quite alright. Then it is good?"
"Absolutely. Ranma's coming back!"
"That is good news. It'll be nice to see him again. Though there is one disappointment."
"Oh? What's that?"
"I was hoping that the call meant that your friend Nabiki was already on her way over. That girl would certainly help to brighten up an old man's day."
"GRANDPA!" she bellowed, whirling about to glare at the door.
Her grandparent was apparently unfazed, as the sound of his steps moving away made it clear that he'd left in no great hurry.
All that Rei could do was to sigh, as she knew to expect such behavior from him. It wasn't that he was a bad sort, but she did which that he'd act his age sometimes. That did give her time to move away from the urge to pound a certain someone though, and she went to pick out a few choices to make a properly stylish outfit.
And she grabbed a couple of charms as well. She might not have been heading out for battle, but she knew that there could be some trouble, and wanted to be prepared for it.
Centering herself, she turned herself to her clothing choices, while:
