Still, she wasn't about to fight him over it as she knew the sort of person that he was, and was perfectly aware that he was the one who understood the impact of what he was saying. "Aren't you even a little bit worried about your father?"
"Could be, if he wasn't as good about protecting his own ass," Ranma responded with a shrug.
"Are you actually willing to trust that?"
"Wouldn't be if I didn't have to do so before."
"That sounds so...."
"'Bad'? Yeah, I know," he admitted, leaning up against a wall. "The thing is that all through the time that we were trainin', Pop always acted kind of dumb. It wasn't over everything, but he tends to want to do things half baked."
"And you think that he'll get survive this."
"Pretty much. He's had to survive everything else. Including having to face me when I... you know, flip out."
"Then I do have a question," she murmured, strolling away from him as she tapped a finger on her lips.
"What's that?"
"What exactly am I supposed to do about my training? He's wanted to help me, but what you say means that I can't let him do that."
"Absolutely not... unless...." he trailed off.
"Yes?"
"Well, I think that you could survive his trainin'."
Blinking at him, his sister-in-law raised her brows. "You really think that I could?"
"Sure. You're tough enough."
"Thanks... I think."

"I get that idea. Don't you want to keep him out of trouble?"
"If I tried to do that, I'd be doin' it all day. Pop doesn't only get stupid on training stuff. I've seen him take stuff from carts, walk from Osaka to Kyoto so that he doesn't have to pay for a train ticket, and rushing through all sorts of dangerous places."
"Oh, hell. You don't mean that he actually goes into those sorts of areas because he wants to."
Ranma shrugged right back at her. "Don't have to. You already said it."
"That's just so dumb! What kind of moron is he?!"
"I'm still trying to figure that out."
"Why can't anything involving him actually go well?" Akane grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest. "I could have hoped that I would have gotten some good training out of this."
"Do you really want to get training that much?"
"Well, I wasn't trying to go and get it myself, but if the chance came up, I wasn't against taking it."
"Well, if you want, I could help you out."
Leaning in towards him, she grinned broadly. "Would you?"
"It wouldn't be that bad, and you're my friend. 'Sides, you're Kasumi's sister."
"Thanks. It's good to have you for a brother," she chirped.
The pigtailed boy scratched his chin as he tried to come up with some sort of explanation for her reaction, but was finding that this whole 'brother-sister' thing wasn't that bad at all, while:
