Nabiki had thought she’d whispered it quietly enough to avoid the teacher’s attention, but unfortunately for her what was quiet enough to get by in Furinkan, where all the teachers were either burnt out or insane, wasn’t quiet enough to avoid the attentions of a teacher who just happened to be a skilled ninja.
"Miss Tendo, I know you like staring at Mr. Satome, but could you please save it for after class?" Just because Iruka was a devoted sensei didn’t mean he wasn’t above embarrassing a student or two if he thought it would help him control the class and get them to concentrate on their work.
“But.. I… Ah… Yes, sensei!” Nabiki blurted out, blushing a bright red and wondering where her icy façade had wandered off to. She hadn’t been this easy to embarrass since she was twelve! ‘Wait a second, I am twelve! Damn it, you mean I’ve been reduced to my twelve year old self’s emotional control too?!’

“WAH! I’M GOING TO GET FIRED AND END UP WORKING FAST FOOD, LIKE KIYONE SAID I WOULD AND THE MANAGER WILL TRY AND DO HORRIBLE THINGS TO ME, LIKE TOUCH ME IN THE FREEZER!”
"For the last time, there are no freezers here!" Marchum the head of the council growled, trying to figure out what the blonde was crying about.
The entire djinn council was nearly at their wit’s end. They had made Mihoshi a genie to relieve their boredom for a time, but she had caused more chaos in her short time as a genie than the most dedicated professional could have and they couldn’t even punish her properly, because it turned out she had relatives in VERY high places.
One of the other members got an idea and whispered it into Marchum’s ear and his slowly growing grin promised a way out of their current predicament.
“The council has come to a decision. Mihoshi Kuramitsu you have been found guilty of overuse of magic in the granting of wishes and in the granting of wishes that have not been properly made. However, in light of your youth and inexperience and the fact that you were only a temporary genie, we have decided to go easy on you.”
Mihoshi sniffed, “So, I’m not being fired?”
“You are being fired,” he quickly continued before she had a chance to start crying again, “but we found you a job with your new friends that doesn’t involve fast food or any sort of freezer!”
“Really?” Mihoshi seemed to perk up.
“Yes, really. We decided we could fix this whole mess with a minimum of magic and get you a new job by reuniting you with your friends. They are currently twelve years old, when they reach the age they were before the wish began simply open a portal and it’ll take you three home. You did say you wanted to be friends forever and promised to do everything you could to help them and this will allow you to keep those promises.”
“How do I open a portal?”
Marchum froze as he considered that for a moment. Genies could open portals to anywhere they desired as easily as mortals could open a closet door, but since she would be a mortal once more…
“I’ll implant the knowledge of how to open portals along with all the training you need to be a ninja,” he promised, bending the rules a bit in allowing her to retain some knowledge of magic.
“Thank you!” Mihoshi squealed and bounced attracting the eyes of everyone in the room, male and female.

“Miss Kuramitsu, the same thing applies to you,” Iruka continued, drawing Nabiki’s attention to the blond girl, who’s rack was still bigger than Nabiki’s had been even though she had been reduced to twelve years old as well.
“Sorry,” Mihoshi responded, blushing and looking down at her desk.
Nabiki felt relieved that the blonde girl was there with them as memories of their current life began to filter in.
The three of them shared an apartment, because it allowed them to pool their orphans’ stipends and kept Ranma’s bottomless stomach fed, not to mention her own addiction to sweets and Mihoshi’s weekly karaoke sessions that she drug them to, as well as keeping a roof over their heads.
A three bedroom apartment would normally have cost quite a bit more than they were being charged, but being Naruto’s neighbor, what with the civilian’s fears of him being a demon, made things surprisingly cost effective. Personally Nabiki was of the opinion that a two bedroom place would have been fine, as Mihoshi couldn’t sleep alone and always snuck into either Ranma’s or Nabiki’s bed.
