It was over in an instant.
Kuno hadn’t had time to blink before ‘the Foul Sorcerer’ stood behind him. A moment passed.
When nothing happened, the True Blunder regained his confidence. “Ha!” He said, turning to the armored figure, “Your foul magic will not work on me! I did not even feel tha-urk!” Kuno did not get to say anymore as pain blossomed in his chest. Clutching the offending area, he collapsed unconscious.
“Master Kuno!” said Sasuke. He crouched down and inspected his master. To his relief, all he found were a pair of furrows running across Kunos chest in an X pattern. The diminutive ninja glanced up at his masters’ opponent.
The being stood there a moment before his swords disappeared in a burst of flame. He regarded Sasuke with a glance over his shoulder.
“Ranma is not a cold-blooded killer,” he said, “and neither am I. Regardless of his offences, Tatewaki Kuno has not done anything to warrant his death in this manner.” With that, the Samurai made his way upstairs.
As soon as he disappeared from sight, the others came out of their stupor.
“Aaaiiyaahh…,” said a visibly shaken Shampoo. “What happened to Airen?”
“I don’t know, sugar,” Ukyo murmured. “I just don’t know.”
Akane folded her arms. “What I want to know,” she said, “is where did he get that armor? I know I’ve seen it somewhere before…”
“I know where.”
Everyone turned to look at the middle Tendo sister.
“That was a variation of the Kikotei armor from Yoroiden Samurai troopers.”
“Yoroiden… Wait. Isn’t that an anime?” asked Akane.
Nabiki nodded, and gave a quick explanation of the series, the armor, and the swords that were used on Kuno.
“What I can’t figure out,” she said afterwards, “is the significance of the cat features on the armor. I mean the main characters had a pet tiger, but that’s it. And it certainly didn’t have a bell collar.”
“What about what Airen say after beating up stick boy?” asked Shampoo, “He speak as if he is two different people.”
“That’s because I’m not Ranma.”
Everyone turned to the stairs. Standing on the top step was the armored figure that had taken out Kuno. Slung over his shoulder was Ranma’s backpack.
“He is currently out of commission,” he said as he descended the stairs. “And the cat features aren’t from Samurai Troopers. They’re from Samurai Pizza Cats.”
“If you’re not Ranchan,” asked Ukyo, “then who are you? And why do you possess him?”
The being shook his head. “I do not have a name,” he said. “but you may refer to me by what I am, which is a Symbiont. As for why I’m ‘possessing’ him, I have commandeered his body to prevent further harm.” He walked to the front door.
Genma strode over, and put his hand on the Symbiont’s shoulder. “Where are you going with my boy?”
“Remove your hand,” said the Symbiont with a hint of menace, “or I’ll remove it for you.”
Genma didn’t budge. “Ranma must stay here and marry Akane. I won’t let yo-“
He didn’t get to say anymore as the Symbiont grabbed his wrist and gave it a quick jerk. One sickening ‘snap’ later, a whimpering Genma was on the ground clutching his broken arm.
“As for where I’m going,” continued the Symbiont, “that is none of your business, Genma.” He turned to address the others. “Nor is it the business of anyone else.”
Once again, the Symbiont turned towards the door and started to walk.
