Of course, it might have helped if their fathers had actually told them about all this back when they were little. Maybe then they could grow up with the idea that they had a prince out there that they were meant to marry. As it was, it would feel entirely too gross to be his bride, and that wasn't out of some dislike of the boy in question. Ranma was a true friend that she cared deeply for, but their closeness made it feel like he was a brother to her, and connecting her marital status to someone like that was way too creepy in her book.
And that wasn't even counting what that would mean for his wife, who she really didn't want to betray at all. The only problem was that his spouse didn't live with her, although that was perfectly understandable. Unfortunately, that also meant that it would take time to get to contact her, and even then, there would be the wait to transport one to the other.
At least this would terribly put out Genma, as what she knew of him was disenchanting, to put it mildly.
Aware that she would have to contact Ranma's wife as soon as possible, Akane also counted her blessing that she wouldn't be forced into an unasked for marriage, as he was already wed to someone from:
