A lone figure sat on a rooftop, stargazing at passing meteors. "I wish I knew what it was like to have a mother." The figure then slowly made its way down and went in to bed.
The deed was done. The fox demon's chi was split in two and each half sealed differently into his son. With the seal key, his son could utilize a powerful technique. And as his life slipped away, Minato wished he could see Kushina just once more.
Blinking, he realize he could see Kushina, and she was nursing there newborn son. Looking down, he realized he had sealed the demon into a baby that was not his. By the looks of things, he was a couple of months old.
"Kushina? If that's Naruto, then who is this?" He asked his lover in shock.
Kushina smiled. "Oh, him? He's no one of importance. Just some Uchiha, that's all."
"Oh bother," Minato gasped, and then he knew no more.
It was during the brief moment, all too fleeting, that occurred as he woke up that Naruto didn’t have to think of a village that hated him, teachers that stunted his education, or ignorance of his own parents. The precious second or two where he felt at peace with the world and himself. It never lasted long.
Naruto shook himself awake and got up to face a new day. Potential pranks were already being considered and evaluated. However, his thoughts stopped when he noticed something important.
"Huh? This isn't my room." Naruto realized once he woke up enough to take in his surroundings. He was in a room much nicer than the one he was used to.
"Naruto, honey, it is time to get up. Breakfast is ready," a female voice, unknown to Naruto, called.
Naruto rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Looking around, he couldn't find his orange jumpsuit. He was attached to it, being so expensive meant he couldn't afford very many of them. "I guess there's no choice then," he sighed to himself. "I'll just have to borrow something." Opening the closet, he found clothing that was much nicer than any he ever owned himself. "I hope I find my clothes soon. Maybe they're getting washed?" Dressing hurriedly, and surprised at how well the clothes fitted, he carefully slid the bedroom door open before stepping out.
"There you are, sleepy head. Come on, don't you want to go to your graduation?" A beautiful woman was standing there, one Naruto had never seen in Konoha before. "You know, your father graduated from the Academy at the age of ten too. He'd be so proud of you," the woman gushed proudly.
"My - my father?" Naruto didn't get to hear much about his family; he always wondered what his parents were like.
The woman chuckled. "You must really be nervous if you've forgotten all the stories I've told you. Come and eat, and try not to be too anxious."
Naruto nodded dumbly, but he didn't refuse the offer of food; it smelled delicious. "Yumm," he proclaimed as he dug in. "But not as good as ramen!"
"Ramen?" Kushina looked puzzled before chuckling. "You must just be pulling my leg. Always a joker, huh son?"
"Son? ... Mom?"
"Yes, dear," Kushina looked at Naruto with concern.
Naruto was very shocked. "I have a mother?" he thought to himself quietly. Getting up, he rushed forward to envelop his mom in a hug.
"What was that for?" She asked.
Naruto blushed and shyly looked away. "Just ... thanks, for everything."
"Come on," Kushina said as she ruffled Naruto's hair. "Finish eating so we can go to your graduation ceremony. Iruka would be worried if we showed up late."
"Okay," Naruto said as he nodded. He finished his breakfast and, together with his mom, left to go to his graduation.
