I just don't see you as a potential mate." Her eyes narrowed suspiciously. "You're not the kind of male to indulge in this sort of activity either. I suspect something more than mere alchohol is involved."
"Yeah, makes sense, but who would do something like that?"
"I have no idea. To have gotten passed the guards' detectors implies great power, but to have affected all of us females, and not the favoured target, is either extremely sloppy - or that was the intent."
Ranma frowned. "Why would anyone?"
"To ruin your reputation," Mira listed, "to cause strife bewteen your females, or something as innocent as a prank gone wrong. When we find the culprit we'll find the reason."
"Okay, but what do I do in the meantime, I can't marry you all?"
"Why not?" Mira shrugged. "It's not like there's a law which says a male has to have only one mate, or anything. Its just customary for some races but not others, and with the number of cultures represented in the kingdom, the laws are fairly flexible. But what's the problem? It's not like you have to declare any of us lifemates after this. You can't be held responsible for acts under charms and compulsions - that is a law. All you're honour-bound to do because of this is protect our reputation and provide for any offspring. Any other association is entirely by choice ... Ranma?"
"Offspring?" he asked weakly. He hadn't even though of that.
"Well, it's not likely, but you are human. Everybody knows how fertile your race is. Anyway, we have a bigger problem right now. How long do you think we've been out for?"
"Huh? I don't know, why?"
"Well, there's a five hour limit on how long I can stay in elven form, right? Tarre has an eight hour limit, but she can only do so once per day, not thrice. Even assuming I recharged my spell ... one of us should have turned back into dragon form already."
"Oh, dear," Ranma summed up succinctly.
