At the end of the day, the group of ninjas set up camp just off of the main road to Konoha. Naruto was currently on watch for the group and he was trying to come to terms with everything that had happened to day. It just seemed so bizarre to him. Tsunade had somehow turned into some sort of legendary creature that was supposed to rival the Bijuu in power. That just didn't make any sense to Naruto. If Tsunade's clan or race or whatever was so powerful, why did she need a Wu?
While Naruto was keeping watch and discovering the art of mental debate, Tsunade was waking up in her tent. Normally, Tsunade slept like a log. However, she wasn't used to having all the extra power that her Sanjiyan heritage provided. This meant that she only needed a quick nap to recharge. The Slug princess rolled around in her sleep for a few minutes before she decided to get up.
Tsunade quickly got dressed and headed outside. Immediately, she spotted Naruto sitting with his back to her. This slight tugged at Tsunade's heart. Why did her heritage have to awaken? On the one hand she was grateful that she had saved the boy's life. However, she was also saddened by the burden she had unknowingly placed on him. The brat didn't deserve to be a Wu on top of being a Jinchurriki.
Suddenly, Naruto called out while still keeping watch, "Hey Tsunade! Why don't you come over here? It beats standing there in the dark."
Tsunade was a little surprised at Naruto's invitation considering that he had been rather subdued for most of the day. Not that she blamed him considering the bombshell that Jiraiya had dropped on them when he explained what they were. Nevertheless, Tsunade walked over and sat down. After a few minutes of silence, the Slug princess sighed and said, "How are things in Konoha?"
Naruto smiled and said, "They're good. Some people don't like me a lot, but its a great village." Silence reigned for a few more minutes and then Naruto asked, "Hey Tsunade, how are you handling what Ero-Sennin told us?"
The boy's nickname for her teammate brought a small smile to Tsunade's face. She then replied, "Not so well kid. Sure getting my youth back and all the extra power was nice. However, the cost is too high in my book. If Jiraiya's right, I'm going to just keep on living after everyone I know is dead. I've already lived through the deaths of my family and my fiance. I don't think I can handle always experiencing that loss."
In his typical clueless way, Naruto said, "Well look on the bright side. I'll always be around; so, you will have someone you won't outlive."
Another smile crossed Tsunade's face when she heard that. If it had been anyone else she would have thought that he was hitting on her. However, it was Naruto and he was just trying to cheer her up. All things considered, she could have done a lot worse for a Wu. Tsunade suddenly shuddered at the thought of Jiraiya being her Wu. Yes, she definitely could have done a whole lot.
Thinking about that led Tsunade to think about what Naruto being a Wu would mean. Right now, the boy wasn't that skilled as a bodyguard. However, he did have potential and could be trained in the future to be a great warrior. Tsunade knew that one day in the future she would need to depend on Naruto to survive. It wasn't like the two of them would be able to live in Konoha forever. Sometime in the future people would become suspicious about her long life and then both of them would have to disappear.
Tsunade looked at Naruto and said, "When we get back to Konoha you are going to be trained by Jiraiya and me. Orochimaru knows what happened to us and who knows who else may know about the Sanjiyan Unkara. We need to get you trained to the point where you can seriously help out if any of the major league ninjas decided to attack you or me over what happened to us."
