It really was too bad that her friends weren't there right now, as she was pretty sure that they would be able to get it done with already.
Her high heels clicked on the plating of the corridor as Fate walked along, her stride confident. Her uniform was crisp, and her style was as professional as could be. Anyone looking at her would see someone who was ready for business and could be depended on.
But as she passed by a wide window, she couldn't help but slow and stare out at the stars outside. They looked as if they were just close enough to touch, and she was almost wishing that she could stay admire the scenery. This wasn't something that she did all the time, but the fact was that seeing it just reminded her of certain things that she missed.
She might have enjoyed her work, and had no desire to leave her career, but she had places that she wanted to go to. Back on Mid Childa, she had a home that was all her own, and there were comrades that she could spend time with. Many of her closest friends were there, which she tried to do every chance that she could. And she had two young children who she felt more than responsible for, and worried over just a bit, even though that they'd proven that they could take care for themselves.
Then again, there was also Earth, which she loved deeply, as it was not only where she'd met Nanoha and been able to get a life of her own, but it was where she'd come across Ranma Saotome. There was a lot of reason for her to visit the planet, but when she'd gone there to investigate for a case, she'd merely thought that she'd wind up visiting friends there when she had a moment off from work. What she hadn't thought was that she would meet the one guy that she would want to marry.
Glancing down at where the glint of a ring rested on her finger, she smiled as she thought of her husband. He was brash and arrogant, but he was also sweet, amusing, and lively. Finding out that he had a father who didn't care for his desires sometimes had made her rather annoyed, especially considering her own history. Genma wasn't someone that she had a lot of respect for, but since she was in love with Ranma, she had to accept his idiot parent as her father in law.
For a girl who had once lived to be acknowledge by her mother, having life like his was simply wonderful, while:
