Of course, Genma Saotome was always ready to blame someone else for his own mistakes, which he was obviously doing as he glared at his son as they walked.
"Hey, what's your problem?" the pigtailed boy grumbled. "It's not like it was my fault."
His father looked down his nose at the younger Saotome.
"You didn't even stop to pretend to pay attention to that guide."
"Humph."
The teenager rolled his eyes, understanding that there would be no talking to his parent. Just trying to start a discussion would result in the elder Saotome insisting that his way was best, even in the face of evidence to the opposite. They'd fall to yelling at each other, and he wasn't about to get into yet another shouting match.
In all honesty, he had better things to do, like meeting up with his old friends, the Tendo sisters. They were great girls, who tended to fuss over him, and, even if he pushed against it, such attention made him feel good. Seeing them again would be great, and it amused him to realize that his father was bringing him to see them without even knowing what was going on.
About the only one that he wanted to see more was Chun Li. That wasn't exactly something that one couldn't understand, as any guy would want to be with the woman that he loved. He knew that plenty of other boys would have wanted her, as he'd seen how they looked at her when she was on his arm. Not only was she a beautiful and shapely woman, but she was an older woman, which was a wonderful draw for guys. From locker room talk, he had heard plenty of fantasies about getting to be with college coeds and office ladies, but he hadn't looked to be with her due to some kinky desire. For him, loving her was more important, and if some guy wanted to feel jealous over him being able to sleep with her, that was fine by him.
Seeing as the Tendo sisters were friends with her, he rather thought that they would want to help him see Chun Li again. So, it would be nice to get back to see them again for more than one reason. He just had to make it there with his father insisting on leading the way, which was a headache not only because his parent wasn't aware of the route like he was.
Yet, he couldn't get the old man to understand him when he was like this, especially as Genma was very adamant about taking him along in the direction that he wanted to, no matter the problem with that.
“I told you the signs warned you about the damned curse.” Ranma sighed, glad his wife taught him Chinese.
“GROWF!” went Genma-panda, ignoring the stares of the locals as he held a sign up in his son's face. [Bite me, boy!]
Leaning back in her chair, Chun Li raised her arms over her head and stretched. It helped her get the kinks out of her back, and crossing her long legs under her desk, she allowed herself to take a moment to relax. There was much that she could be doing, but with all the work that she had been going through, she need to take some time to take a breather.
She knew that she was attractive, as she could see the admiration of her body that some of the guys passing by gave her. But then, she knew of a file clerk who had been leered at while wearing a turtleneck and long skirt. Experience had told her that guys weren't exactly particular in their appreciation of the female form, and as she thought about it, amusement burbled up at the knowledge of how wide male interest could be.
However, her main interest was in one boy in particular, which she found surprising even to herself. It wasn't that there was anything wrong with him, but that she hadn't been looking for someone to be with. All that she had wanted to do was to upholding the law, and continue with her teaching of the Art to children. That was the life that she had thought that she would continue on with.
Yet, in meeting with Ranma through a street fighting match, her life had changed. Neither of them had been combatants, but they had watched the match before seeing each other. Nothing might have come of it... if he hadn't come to the aid of a girl who was being harassed by a group of drunken thugs. Stepping in to help had been something that she had felt that she had to do. Not that he needed her assistance, but he had taken it.
That had been the start of their relationship, and in checking up on him, they had wound up spending more and more time with him. Simple talks turned into hang out sessions, and they'd even started to train together. They grew closer and closer, going from simple discussion to intimate chats, and soon they had taken to simply sitting together. Sparring sessions became almost like dancing routines, as they grew to become instinctually aware of each other's moves. For her, they'd grown beyond simply being acquaintances, to being friends, to being something more.
Still, when she first thought of going on a date with him, she was shocked with herself. Here she was, a respected officer and martial artist, and she was falling for a younger man. They weren't quite that far apart in age, but it was surprising to be so taken with any guy. Then again, that didn't stop her from putting on a lovely dress that showed off her legs for their first 'official' date.
And now they were married in a simple ceremony, with everything properly registered with all the authorities. Having things above the board was important to her, and Ranma was apparently very happy about that concept. Of course, the fact that doing all that paperwork made her legally 'his' might have had something to do with that.
A smile curved her lips as she considered how important having her be his alone, but that didn't bother her, as she couldn't see him being anyone's others than hers. They might not always agree with each other, but they were more important to each other than some simple disagreements. The two of them were in love, and they weren't about to give up on that.
Chun Li just wished that she could be there when the cops showed up for her father in law, as the idea of having pay for some of his idiocy did appeal to her, while:
