The Big Book of Everything: Into the Void (LIME) [Episode 218199]

by The Demented Redhead

It was the event that would be labeled the Great Fall, the end of the Silver Millennium as the forces of utter chaos, led by the possessed Lady Beryl and the demoness Metallia, assaulted the forces of the refuges of the Sailor Wars. At this point in many timelines, Queen Serenity—depending on when in the timeline it was, it could be anywhere from Queen Serenity XVII to CVII—had used her most powerful magical artifact, the Ginzuishou, to seal the forces of chaos into a dimension while sending the souls of her Court and her child to the future, hoping they be reborn on the future Earth, one not decimated by the Youma.

As things stood now, all that remained of the people from the Silver Millennium was the Guardian of Time, Sailor Pluto. She stood crying before the Gates of Time, feeling sorry for what she had been unable to prevent from happening. She sulked before the Gates, crying heavily, drinking from a bottle of liquor that would never be seen again on shelves or in Royal ‘Wine Cellars’. She cried for what was lost, what was never to be, and what was yet to come; the curse of being who she was and guarding what she did.

Eventually, she became so inebriated, she didn’t notice as little known artifacts of the Silver Millennium materialized at the Gates, items meant to never be lost, to be used for when the Court was reborn and to assist the reborn Princess Serenity in the new world. The failsafe spells on them would always teleport them to the Gates should they be in danger of being destroyed.

Decompression and plasma fires tended to be dangerous to magical tomes.

Nor did it stop Sailor Pluto from drunkenly bitching about the fact the Princess slew herself rather than be without a guy she’d only known for a few hours and danced with. Hell, the Princess had had more ‘intimate’ encounters with several Senshi than said Prince of Earth—and not just Sailor Mars, despite what some rumors claimed.

But even dead, such things were certainly never going to pass from the soul of the hopefully soon-to-be reborn Sailor Uranus. Uranus would certainly never want her lover to know that the first female orifice to have touched her lips had not been those belonging to Sailor Neptune.

So drunk and distraught, Sailor Pluto never would remember when she got angry and lashed out at the inanimate magical objects that. She never noticed when she sent a special book that had been forged by Queen Serenity I for every Queen Serenity and Princess Serenity that came after her, into the air with a strike of his Garnet Rod. She never noticed when said magical tome bounced off the ground or ended up passing through the Gates of Time.

One thing you had to remember, the Gates of Time required a user to direct them. As such, with no force guiding it, the book fell literally through space and time.

But what is this book?

It never had a title, really. It was called everything from ‘The Book’ to ‘Serenity’s Guide to Ruling the Kingdom’. But the most popular was always picked by the Serenity heirs when younger: ‘The Big Book of Everything’.

It was a magical tome, complete with a small level Artificial Intelligence spell to assist the reader, and a neat little ‘cloning’ spell that allowed the book to gather information.

It was like this. You had a question, you literally asked the book, and its pages would form the words to answer your question until you learned enough to use the spell so you could ‘hear’ the answer. Need to know the proper way to deal with visiting dignitaries? Ask the book. Need to know how to properly channel power to create a healing spell? Ask the book.

Need to know the secrets about sex that even your mother wouldn’t or couldn’t answer? Well, she’d hand you the book and tell you to ask it, just like she did and her mother before you and the mother before her.

Some things transcend social structures. One of them just happens to be explaining to your child about sex.

But as spoken of before, the book also had a ‘cloning’ function: it could learn from other books. Just get it near any written document or within a hundred meters, and it could ‘read’ it, adding its data to the huge sum of knowledge it already contained.

Queen Serenity XII used that function a lot during negotiations. It helped when you knew what plans the opposition had ready in case things turned south.

It also helped protect her from a few failed attempts at final negotiations: agree or we’ll blow up the sap we sent to you.

But now this book was falling through space and time, until finally an eddy in the higher-dimensional space caught it, directing the book to…
