Fighters of a New Day: Training Trip [Episode 218761]

by Thrythlind

"The growing season's coming up," Miyako said as she poked at the . "The school's going to close down for a bit."

"I for one am quite looking forward to the respite," Noriko Kuno said. "My father and mother are away visiting my aunt. It shall just be myself and the servants for two months."

"Is time to visit Joketsuzoku," Loshun nodded. "Mother be very upset to hear that strong men out here one is pervert and other is lost all the time."

"I could introduce you to my cousin, I suppose," Noriko suggested.

"Ryouta Saotome is six year old," Loshun protested through half-lidded eyes.

"Do not be disgusting, my other cousin," Noriko said.

Loshun looked at her for a moment in confusion before she realized who the samurai child was talking about.

"The Musk Prince!?" she said, if possible even more disgusted.

"Well, he's certainly strong," Miyako said, snickering.

"He is Musk! He is only strong smell!" Loshun declared, huffing. "What you do for school break, Miyako? Your family no have farm either."

Miyako poked her head up from between the three of them and looked around cautiously before answering. Curiousity piqued by the secrecy, the other barely held their peace to wait for the other girl to speak.

"I was thinking of going on one of those training trips Master Saotome talks about," she whispered conspiratorily.

"That sounds a bit intriguing," Noriko noted, thought whirling.

"Is what I doing already," Loshun noted, confused as to why this was such a big deal.

"Our parents would never allow such a thing," Noriko said.

"Hey, we're adults by the law," Miyako said, not reminding Noriko that her parents were dead. "We can make our own decisions."

"You have plan?" Loshun asked doubtfully.

"Well," Miyako said. "I was thinking of heading to Joketsuzoku and the Musk, maybe the Phoenix. Master Saotome's name will carry weight there. And along the way just see what happens."

"Perhaps if we wait until my parents have left..." Noriko noted.

"I'm sure your father would encourage it," Miyako said. "And with the three of us together what kind of problem could we run into?"

"When I join this?" Loshun asked, somehow suspecting that the time to put down the idea had long passed.

"Besides," Miyako said, ignoring Loshun's question. "What kind of training could we get without sparring partners."

"Just one thing," Noriko noted.

"And that is?" Miyako asked.

"We are not going to Jusenkyo," the samurai girl said firmly.

"Aiya, no Jusenkyo," Loshun agreed.

"Come on," Miyako said, rolling her eyes. "Who's crazy enough to go to Jusenkyo if they actually know about what it is?

Somewhere, Genma Saotome sneezed.

"Then everything sounds well and good," Noriko said. "Shall we put the idea to our parents?"

"You want to what?" Yuzu asked, looking at her neice in near shock.

"It's no big deal, I'm just going to see some of Master Saotome's connections," Miyako said. "And I'm going with Noriko and Loshun. Between the three of us what could go wrong."

"You could come back turning into a boy in cold water," Yuzu noted firmly.

"We are not going anywhere near Jusenkyo," Miyako promised firmly. "I really don't want to come back as something else, so don't worry about that."

"And what do I tell your parents if...something happens to you out there?" she asked, arms on her hips.

"Aunt Yuzu," she said. "If something happens, I'll be telling them myself."

"The growing season is a busy time for the clinic," Yuzu protested.

"Yeah, but I'm not much help with it," Miyako said, a bit embarassed. "And it's not like you can't go to Aunt Karin, or Tofu-Sensei."

"Speaking of sensei, have you spoken to yours about this yet?" Yuzu asked.

"Which?" Miyako asked, a bead of sweat working down her forehead.

"Either," Yuzu asked.

"Well..." Miyako said. "Not...exactly."

"Why don't you do that first?" Yuzu asked.

"And who is going on this 'training trip' of yours?" Nabiki said her daughter.

"It sounds as if it will be Miyako Kurosaki and Loshun," Noriko said.

Nabiki thought about it a moment and turned toward her husband.

"They'll be going the same way we are," she said. "We could bring them along."

"I don't believe that's the intention of this trip," Noriko said.

"Indeed, verily I can see that you wish to test your youthful skill against that disciple of the v..." Tatewaki started to rant.

"That's my brother-in-law," Nabiki said. "You know, the one that introduced Kodachi to that young man who lives far, far away from here?"

"Indeed, such a paragon of virtue of maniliness must be praised," Tatewaki agreed after a moment's fault.

"And why is it that you are visiting Aunt Kodachi, exactly?" Noriko asked.

"Well, I believe the concerns are slightly outside your area of concern, kid," Nabiki said.

"You mean she's worth money," Noriko said, nodding.

"She has calmed down a lot since being married..." Nabiki said by way of ameiloration.

"It is a long trip," Tatewaki noted. "You must be prepared adaquately."

"Training trips aren't fun and games," Ranma said, looking toward Miyako. "Once you leave town, you don't have anyone but yourself to depend on."

"Noriko and Loshun are going too," Miyako noted.

"That's a bit comforting," Akane said honestly. "But neither you or Noriko have been beyond the town before."

Miyako put on her best father-glower and had it matched with Ranma's and Akane's own glare. Finally, however, the dark-haired man sighed and shook his head.

"Though, I'm guessing you'll go whether we give you permission or not," Ranma said then.

"Better to send you out well-prepared than make you try to sneak out," Akane agreed. "I'll speak to your aunt."
