Great Will Cascade: Twists In The Stream Of Time [Episode 219129]

by Kestral

Ranma knew now how to ask the Universe what the Great Will had done in dealing with his problems.

After some thought about how unacceptable it was that he be talking to something nobody else could hear, Ranma put together an interface. He saw the other guys with little devices called Blueberries or something like that. So he made his own interface one of those.

Flipping it open, he was rewarded with the image of a girl in a navy blue school uniform.

"Yes sir?" said the holo-girl, adjusting her glasses as she got out a notebook.

"Oh?!" said several girls as they leaned closer to look.

Ranma steeled himself, expecting some nasty reactions and wondering why he got a GIRL interface. Was that a snicker? Was the universe really laughing at him?

"Ah," said Ayane, smiling ever so slightly as she settled back. "You got an AMI model. Good call."

"Well, the AMI model is one you'd expect from someone in the line-of-inheritance," pointed out Hayate. Who was wondering if Ayane had drawn the similar hairstyles to mean that she had the heir's eye. "The AMI model has the most memory and processing power even if the parser isn't always as intuitive."

"You can always turn the hologram off," said Kasumi.

"Right, or they make cards to swap the AMI out for a more intuitive model," pointed out the German karate expert. As with Kasumi, she sounded slightly annoyed about something.

"Excuse me," said Genma. "Son, put that away. We're here."

Ranma glanced up, expecting to see the normal Tendo dojo. He wasn't sure why he expected the house to look the same with so much else changed.

Solar panels gleamed from their position on the roof. There was also... "what are you girls doing?"

"Removing traps," said a slightly distracted Ayane as she threw kunai into a pavement stone which abruptly extruded metal jaws and clanged shut.

"Oh. Okay, go for it," said Ranma, deciding that he should let the ninja get on with ninja work while he went back to cataloging the differences between the old Tendo Dojo and this new one.

Maybe 'new old one' would fit better. With the exception of the new-looking solar panels, everything else looked older and more weather-beaten. Like it had been built in the Taisho Roman era and maintained for everything but the past decade or so. A television disc could barely be discerned behind one solar panel, which Ranma could swear hadn't been in place in the old Tendo home.

It was still pretty well constructed though. The front porch had no problem with Kasumi's weight as she removed a net-trap.
