After managing to get out of that creep’s line of sight, Moka took a left into an adjacent hallway, went up a flight of stairs, through a school lab, two classrooms, and down another flight of stairs before finally coming to a stop. Behind her, Kurama put away the numerous plant weapons he’d been trying to choose from in order to hack off the girl’s arm and escape before she manage to catch sight of them.
“Wow that was scary,” Moka told him between gasps for air. “I really don’t know how to react to guys like that.” Finally catching her breath, she looked up to the redhead. “Are you okay Shuichi?”
Still in the middle of testing the contention of the arm Moka had grabbed, Kurama looked at her with a deadpan expression. “Nothing’s broken if that’s what you mean.” He had plenty of bruises from when the girl dragged him up the stairs though.
Moka sighed in relief, she thought that guy might have swiped at him while she wasn’t looking.
Now, Moka really needed something to take her mind off the whole affair. Then she remembered what they’d been doing before that whole mess started, it was good enough. “Now come on, let’s go explore the school!”
Before Moka had even finished speaking, Kurama had already moved around so she grabbed his other arm instead of the strained one.
This time, things were much less painful or fast paced. They did a quick tour of the campus, the library, dorms, and various sports fields, as well as looked at the campus map that marked the different zones where freshmen weren’t allowed like condemned buildings and fields reserved for upper classmen activities.
“It’s all so wonderful,” Moka remarked with her usual bright smile.
Kurama looked over to the dead trees, the numerous items of Halloween decor, and the wasted landscape. He could barely keep from gawking at the completely unwarranted reaction. “What makes you say that?”
For her part, Moka couldn’t believe Kurama lack of reaction. “The character! What kind of monster wouldn’t appreciate all this scenery?”
A wind that humans would have called eerie blew across the plain, and Kurama caught a scent in the air. “And here I was hoping that little incident from before would have dissuaded him from coming around again.”
“Huh?” Moka asked, confused what that little jumble of mumbling was about.
“MOKA AKASHIYA!”
The cute vampire screamed in fright as she heard herd name bellowed from behind before turning around. Coming up from behind them was a lumbering hulk of a monster with the rags of a school uniform hanging from his shoulders. She quickly hid behind Kurama at the sight.
Kurama was a little more reserved. “Hello Saizou, I thought you were one of the brutish races of demons. Although judging by your appearance, you’re some sort of mongrel breed. Is it a cross between a orc and a ogre, or a troll?” The sight did bring a few memories back. Whatever the boy’s race, he obviously shared the same background as whatever demon that been combined with Toguro.
Usually, when someone would bring up his mixed heritage Saizou would quickly go into a rage and mangle the guy. However this time, he was already in a rage and focused on someone else. “Get out of my way you little bitch!” Saizou shouted. “I’m going to make that whore behind you pay me back for what she did to me!”
With his attempt to divert Saizou’s anger unsuccessful, Kurama sighed and stepped aside. “Oh well, I tried.”
“Shuichi!” Moka yelled as her proverbial knight in shining armor just moved out of the monster’s way. That wasn’t how heroes were supposed to act!
Kurama turned up his palms and shrugged in defeat. “I’m sorry Moka, I tried to save him. Now just hurry and get it over with. Don’t worry, I won’t rat you out to the facility.”
The anger on Moka’s face, that still looked impossibly cute, slowly shifted to confusion. “What’re you talking about?” she asked while question marks danced above her head.
“Yeah, what’re you talking about?” Saizou also asked, his rage dimmed at the unusual actions and a peeked curosity.
For a moment Kurama debated if he should just end it now, but then Moka would eventually remember she was mad at him, and that would bring up a much more troubling problem than a rampaging monster. “Well you see Saizou, when I detected your approach I of course immediately went through all the facts and deduced that you were hear to get revenge on Moka, most likely by raping her.” The smell coming off the man alone told him that much, he didn’t need the huge bulge in what was left of the monster’s pants to confirm it.
Moka gasped in horror.
Saizou simply nodded in agreement.
“With a few more seconds before you called out, I quickly considered all my options. The most obvious one would be me simply stopping you myself.” By the look on the monster’s face, he thought that was rather impossible, while Moka’s nodding showed that was what she wanted. “But that isn‘t really viable. No matter what I do short of ending your life, you’d just come back later when Moka and I were separated to extract your revenge. This would also create a grudge against me, and I’d rather not have to deal with that sort of thing.”
Having to watch her back every moment of every day for when Saizou came back, Moka had to admit that would be unbelievably troublesome.
As he knew this little wimp couldn’t even hope to beat him, Saizou didn’t bother to comment.
Then Kurama reached to grab Moka and pulled her close rather forcefully.
“Hey!”
“I could just go and give Moka to you,” Kurama continued, ignoring Moka‘s protest. “It would get you and her off my back finally. But… these past few years I-”
“I’LL TAKE THAT OPTION!” Saizou yelled as he lunged forward with his clawed hands reaching for the frightened vampire.
Reacting mostly on instinct, Kurama pulled Moka close to him and spun around to jump away. With the added weight of the girl slowing him down, Saizou managed to tag his shoulder with a swipe and sink his claws in deep enough to draw blood before Kurama could get out of the monster’s reach.
He didn’t let me finish my exposition, the older demon thought to himself before turning back around to face Saizou. Since the little brat wanted to be so rude about it… “Fine, take her,” Kurama grumbled before shoving Moka over to the mixed-breed with his good arm.
Saizou gladly snatched up the vampire, his mind already filling with all the dark and perverted things he could do to such a succulent girl. Then, he looked back up to the idiot redhead with that damn passive expression on his face, and thought of how good it would feel to show that punk just who was in charge. Now there’s an idea. I’ll snap that little picks legs and make him watch me fuc-huh?
The confusion that derailed Saizou’s train of thought was caused by a sudden surge in demonic energy occuring right on top of him. The monster barely had time to wonder what the hell was going on before his arms were thrown wide by a massive force. It would have sent his body flying off into the sky, only a small and delicate hand reached up to grab Saizou’s throat, and pulled his entire head down until he was hunched more than halfway over.
The little vampire girl was glaring at him with a set of glowing red eyes. Her hair whipped about in a wild wind, thrown up by her demonic aura. All of a sudden, Moka didn’t look very much like the type of sweet and innocent girl Saizou liked to take advantage of back in the human world.
“Now, if you would have let me finish,” Kurama said as he cut into the rather tense moment between Moka and Saizou, “my third option was simply removing the artifact around Moka’s neck that works to suppress her aura. That would have at least given you a chance to run and maybe even get away. But you went and tried to molest the girl before I got done, so…” He let the rest go unsaid, as it was obvious of the outcome.
“You…” Moka said in an entirely different tone of voice. “You were going to rape ME?”
Behind the little standoff, Kurama arched an eyebrow at the somewhat drastic change in Moka’s demeanor. The increase in power he’d been counting on, and knew it would have been simple for her to simply toss the other demon like a rag doll. With such a gulf between the two, Saizou would have ran of and left her alone.
However, the girl’s newfound backbone was unexpected.
Saizou tried to explain that wasn’t the case, or at least she’d have liked it so much Moka would have come back begging for more, but the iron grip she had on the demon’s throat kept him from talking. Then the knee she buried in his groin made sure Saizou wouldn’t be even trying to talk for awhile.
After getting a little revenge, Moka decided to get rid of this looser. She had a much more troubling matter to deal with. Letting Saizou seeing was coming, Moka slowly drew her foot back.
“KNOW YOUR PLACE!”
With the demon bent over, Moka’s high arching kick took him squarely in the chest and sent Saizou flying back towards the academy’s athletics department.
