"This is actually a temporary body," said Roll as she did what looked like a gymnastics routine. It actually served as a calibration routine for various programs and pieces of hardware, necessary for everything to work as a cohesive unit. Which was why she'd gone there as soon as she could extricate herself from Ranma's hug. Not that the hug had been particularly unpleasant or that she didn't understand his human sense of barely-avoided-loss that had prompted it. "The work is commencing on a more advanced structure that I'll move into when you're a bit older and it's ready for me."
"You can show me what you'll look like when you're older?" asked Ranma. He wondered if they could do the same for him.
"Not yet," said Roll, curious about Ranma's reaction.
Masterbrain 32: It looks as if Ranma has selected Roll for roletype: Companion. Congratulations.
"Would everyone STOP linking into the security network and monitoring us?" asked Roll aloud.
"Huh?" asked Ranma.
Masterbrain 32: Are you frakking kidding? This is the most interesting thing going on in the entire network.
"We're being watched by a large number of bored machines," said Roll to Ranma.
"Eh," said Ranma, shrugging. "Not doing anything that interesting."
"The file name is the Legends upgrade package," said Roll. "That body will be very close to human, even going so far as to be able to grow older and change as needed."
"Oh good," said Ranma, thinking that if she were more human-like she'd be tougher.

Roll was actually shocked. Ranma wasn't even old enough to even consider that sort of thing, but he was already thinking of that for the future? That meant that when he was older and the synth body was ready for her, that they would...
"Uhm, are you supposed to fall off the balance beam, land on your butt, and have smoke coming out of your ears?" asked Ranma in his most diplomatic fashion.
