Ranma was different for much the same reasons. Even though Genma had tried to avoid the Yakuza, but had not been able to do so entirely.
Ranma had had to develop quick-kill and fast-disable techniques. When he got serious, he was quite capable of killing. Not that he was anxious to do so.
But capable, yes. When pushed sufficiently.
"Oyabun, here is the file," said the operative, sliding a report into place.
"Hmph," said the Oyabun, flipping the file open. Which was when he lost his disinterested look and frowned. "Hmph. So it's them."
"We owe them, though they might not know it," said the operative.
"So I see," said the Oyabun. "They've cost us a major lab on the experimental sexslave trade, but they've done extensive damage to the Triads. The Inagawa-kai group cannot look weak, but we also must balance our ledgers."
"There is also this," said the operative a finger tapping a newspaper folded so that a particular story was visible.
"The Anti-Yakuza Taskforce can be bought off, with a few notable exceptions," admitted the Oyabun. "There is also something not on the report that I must add to the plan."
"Oh?" asked the operative, who had thought the report fairly complete.
"The two are formidable when threatened," said the Oyabun. "Fortunately, I have an idea on how to proceed. That's why I am Oyabun, after all."
"As you say," agreed the operative.
"Find someone suitable for the position of 'leak' to the local Triad group," said the Oyabun. "Give Saotome's position away. Also find a way to leak some inkling of the Triad hunting him down to Saotome. Then we see if the hammer or the anvil breaks. We, however, will be watching to take advantage of whichever DOES fail."
"Ah," said the operative, who could indeed see why this splinter group of the Inagawa-kai Yakuza group WAS as successful as it was.
