Unfortunately, the human species tended to throw out morons, some of whom were well-intentioned morons, which is what had happened to the nameless one.
She was actually a Threshold girl. One who'd seen herself becoming an Elf and had decided to put the best face on it. She begun reading everything she could on farming and forestry, applied for a position as farmgirl in an area known for being fairly progressive that had protective legal rights even for pokegirls. She had been on the way to an interview for that, only 40% altered towards Elf and with others in pretty much the same situation in an old farmtruck heading towards that little town.
She'd never even HEARD of this 'PFORM' group before. People For Organizing Release Matches? A group that felt that pokegirls had to be released back into the wild as nature intended? She had been born in a city, raised in a city, didn't know the first thing about living in the wild. They'd been driven out into the woods, herded away from the truck, and the protestors had beaten the harmless old driver into the ground after they'd managed to stop the truck with spike sticks.
It had not been a good time, and without anything to stop it, the change had continued on as she'd tried to survive and find her way to shelter. She wasn't sure what had happened to the rest of the Threshold-girls. Two of them had been carnivores and she had REALLY hoped that those two didn't go wild and find her.
She was aware that she'd changed, though she wasn't able to think in the manner she'd been used to previously.
When she heard a male voice, she followed that. Words were unimportant, just noises. If she'd been able to concentrate on something - she'd try to make sense out of them. Right now a male offered a chance of safety, shelter, and needs that were just making themselves felt - which she knew a male could take care of. If she hooked up with a guy she'd be able to think clearly again instead of through all this whirling sensation.
She knew that her current condition was a combination of the relatively mild state of Feral that Elf-breeds got, plus exhaustion and hunger, plus the effects of Threshold. She'd read enough that she knew all this if she could just focus for a few minutes. There was a guy, who represented a lifeline to her.
And he had FOOD!!!
Naruto was not at ALL sure what to make of the girl who crawled out of the shrubbery.
She acted almost like a wild thing, fearful of him, as she took a proferred Ninja Snax bar.
It wasn't for a few minutes before he realized that:
