By the time his brain rebooted itself, both Erica and Sakura had departed from his room to head down for breakfast with the others. 'Was I hearing things...? No, they clearly said that they love me but...'
It was too strange for him to comprehend as he dressed for the day. Perhaps he could get some answers about why the girls were acting like this from Kaede. He hadn't had a chance to go through the 'Ginza Monjo' book brought to him by Kayama after the welcome party last night due to his duties of performing the night rounds and she had been interested in reading that book as well.
As he stepped out with the book in his hands, he heard someone call out to him. "Good morning, Lieutenant."
"Ah... good morning, Sumire-kun." He paused when he noticed a small frown on the self-proclaimed 'Top Star' of the Teikoku Kagekidan. "Is there something wrong?"
"Lieutenant, were you seriously going to go out dressed in such a messy fashion?"
"Oh..." He quickly examined himself and noticed he hadn't properly cleaned up his attire. He must have been a lot more distracted than he realized. Then again, who wouldn't be after hearing such a sudden and bold statement from two girls? "Sorry... I have a lot on my mind."
Kanzaki Sumire merely sighed softly before she approached him. "I can understand but presenting a strong and clean image is of utmost importance. It reassures the people of the city that there is a star who shines as bright as their hopes." Without hesitation, she moved to properly adjust his tie, shirt collar and vest. "There we go, Lieutenant. Much more proper."
"Er... thank you." That was when he noticed that her usual stylish purple kimono had been rearranged as well... showing a little bit more cleavage than he remembered.
Sumire's voice quickly brought him back to reality. "Lieutenant, if I may... would you be interested in accompanying me for my late night rehearsal? I could use another perspective on how to approach my role as Fantine."
Ogami gave a puzzled look. "But you've already memorized your lines, right?"
She was prepared for this and went into the excuse she had came up with the previous night just after the party. "The focus of the rehearsal will be on the character herself. I want to understand it better, starting with her love for Felix. I was thinking that we could do a small role play session where you would be Felix and I would be Fantine and I could explore what made her fall in love in the first place with such a man. All you have to do is play the Felix of Fantine's dreams."
"Huh?"
"You know how the original story has Felix abandon her and Cosette, right? I wonder about what type of life Fantine could have had if Felix was more of an honourable man like yourself, Lieutenant. I was hoping that we could look at that scenario together," finished Sumire.
'...... even Sumire-kun's acting a bit strangely.' He made a note to check into this as well. "If I have time available after my work is complete, I'll try to make it."
This caused the 'Top Star' to smile. "Thank you for accepting my invitation, Lieutenant. I look forward to seeing you tonight." And with that, she strode past him, looking a bit more confident than usual.
'Just how am I supposed to get to the bottom of this?' He had to quickly crack this mystery before the relationship dynamic between himself and the two Flower Divisions got even more complicated.
