Kaname Chidori opened her purse to get a tissue to wipe the tears of joy from her eyes. Ranma was alive! She could feel the connection. It was very weak when he first called out to her, but the reception was getting stronger.
WHUMP
A somewhat bruised marital artist landed a few feet away from her with a groan. She scrambled to his side. Unnoticed or uncaring her purse’s contents were scattered as it landed on the ground.
“Ranma! Are you hurt? Oh please don’t leave me again!” Kaname fluttered about worryingly. She knew that Ranma was tough and could soak up a lot of damage, but this was the first time she could actually see the damage. It was causing the normally calm and collective girl to panic a bit.
“Kaname…,” Ranma’s eyes slowly opened as he focused on the girl of his dreams, “I’m sorry.”
“Shh. Don’t talk.” Kaname softly said as she moved the hair away from his eyes.
Anata, I wanted everything to be perfect. Ranma projected. The sending was filled with melancholy and a little self-loathing. He blamed himself for bringing chaos into her life.
It was. You came to me Koi. Rest for a bit. She sent back with as much love and assurance as possible.
“Can’t.” Ranma said suddenly. “Something hit me hard after I took down the sniper. Whatever it was is probably still out there looking for you. We got to get out of here.” It irked him that he couldn’t go back and see what sucker punched him, but he couldn’t chance it with Kana-chan being their target. He flipped on to his feet and stood there for moment shaking like a leaf. “I’m ok. Let’s go,” he said shakily as joints popped into place.
Now a sadistic or sadomasochist person might be tempted to poke at the pigtail boy in attempt to stop his false bravado. Fortunately, Kaname was neither and felt Ranma’s determination through the link. She nodded her head and offered her shoulder to him. She could hear many of his joints popping as they quickly collected his backpack and hurried toward another park exit.
Kurz kept the M9’s cameras sweeping back and forth from the park’s entrance.
“Um. Gee these sakura trees all look a like.” He spotted an open purse. Its contents spread about. “Damn!” He quickly moved the Arm Slave to the tree and started to search the area. He was unable to find any sign of target and quickly thumbed the radio switch. “Base! Something has happened to our Angel!”
Ranma felt the vibrations of something big moving rapidly.
We have to move faster! He urgently sent.
Are you sure you’re well enough? Kaname asked worriedly as she read his intentions. He nodded his head as the last of his joints popped into place. He picked her up and jumped into the nearest tree. They were out of the park and on the rooftops in a matter of minutes.
