The Tendo sisters looked at each other and each sister nodded her head ever so slightly. Ranma Saotome coming to visit was a good thing. It meant that they'd get to see their old friend again. However, their father trying to set them up with Ranma was a BAD THING. First, none of the sisters thought of Ranma like that. He was a good friend or like a brother they never had. The second, and more important reason was the fact that Ranma was already married.
Soun looked at his daughters and grinned, "Ah, I see how happy this news makes you my daughters. Never worry, your groom will be here shortly. Genma wouldn't send the letter unless he was nearby. Well, I'm off to share the good news with your mother." The master of the Tendo School then left to go pray at the family shrine leaving the girls by themselves.
Nabiki took a quick glance to make sure that her father was out of earshot and then said, "Alright sisters, we've got a major, and I mean MAJOR problem on our hands."
Kasumi nodded her head and spoke up, "Agreed. Bigamy isn't legal in Japan anymore. Besides, marrying Ranma even if he were free would just feel wrong. I love him, but not in that manner."
Akane nodded her head and threw in her opinion, "We all love Ranma; as a brother. Lind knows that so we shouldn't have to worry about her going after us for trying to steal her husband. Having a Valkyrie on a jealous rampage is not what we need."
Nabiki shook her head and then said, "Lind's not like that Akane so don't worry about her descending from heaven with that poleaxe of hers. I'm worried about father getting roasted by that Ultimate Force thing. Remember what Lind told us? 'Divine marriages blessed by The Almighty carry the full protection of the Ultimate Force. Anyone or anything trying to get in the way of the marriage is punished with extreme prejudice'. Remember Kodachi Kuno?"
As one, the three Tendo Sisters shivered at the memory. Kodachi Kuno, brother to Akane's supreme pain in the butt Tatewaki Kuno, had developed an unhealthy infatuation with Ranma. In fact, she had tried to crash Ranma and Lind's wedding in order to 'rescue' her 'darling Ranma' from the 'white-haired witch'. Lind's fellow Valkyries didn't get the chance to defend Lind's honor before the Almighty turned Kodachi into a poodle and threw her into a pound. To this day, no one had heard anything about the 'runaway' heir to the Kuno fortune.
Kasumi quickly grabbed some tea and said, "Remember what Belldandy told us of the Ultimate Force. It will only activate if someone tries to deliberately interfere in the relationship. Father is safe at the moment since he most likely doesn't know about Ranma's marriage. We're safe since we don't want to accept this engagement."
Nabiki nodded her head and then spoke in the manner that only seeing her work with her business associates would recognize. "Okay, we all agree that this arranged marriage needs to be deep sixed for both our friends' happiness and our father's well being. What we need to do is get Ranma over to the temple ASAP so that the Norns can get Ranma to Lind. Kasumi? Do we still have some of that sleeping potion that Urd gave us to deal with the Siamese fighting cats last week?"
The eldest Tendo sister put her hand to her chin and thought for a moment. Kasumi then nodded her head and said, "We have a few drops left."
Nabiki gave her sister a small nod and said, "Good. Mix the sleeping potion with some saki and give a cup to father. That should knock him out for the rest of the day. Akane, get that mallet Skuld gave you for your birthday. You'll need to bash Genma Saotome into dreamland to neutralize him as a problem. I'll call the temple to inform the Norns. Come on, hurry! You heard father; that Saotomes could be here any minute and none of us want to be in the pound!"
