Akane felt it. Felt the offer. Felt the promise of power.
The desire to protect her family voted for accepting it. Pride, Envy, these too argued in favor of it.
Akane accepted it.
War shook her head as the power flooded into her. As a massive sword settled into her hands.
"Whoa," said War, as she realized what was going on.
"Akane?!" exclaimed most of those present.
She stood tall in her armor, styled similar to that of a Greek Hoplite. Hoplite armor normally didn't include armored bracers though, and normally involved a spear and shield. War held a massive no-dachi that she regarded thoughtfully for a moment.
"Akane, what happened?" Ranma asked after another moment.
"Akane Tendo is 'on hold' at the moment," said War, her glowing eyes regarding Ranma briefly. "Until Judgement has passed, Akane Tendo is now the host of War. She did this for pride's sake, and envy of you, but also for the protection of those she loves and holds dear - and therefore will not be consumed in this."
"Uhm, what exactly does that mean?" asked Nabiki.
"I am War, the bringer of conflict," explained War. "I am one of the classic Four Horsemen. Akane understood this when she was offered it."
"Well, let her go!" said Ranma.
"You cannot defeat me," said War simply. "Conflict in all its forms, violence in all the ways it may be dealt, these are my areas of specialization. That includes the martial arts. You should be addressing other concerns first."
"Such as?" asked Nabiki.
"The one you know as Happosai has become Conquest, and such is the strength of his experience and perversion that he largely controls the First Horseman's powers," consoled War. "I must ride in the wake of Conquest, yet as War I can protect my family. War, you see, involves more than one side."
Ranma got closer, looking up into Akane's face. Except for the glowing eyes and size and costume, she still mainly looked like Akane. It wasn't until he was standing next to her that it was apparent she was two feet taller.
