Moods were somber. The overall impression was that if this was a martial arts battle, Ranma would be among their first choices. A test of maturity and intelligence?
Nabiki was the worst off. She hadn't even made it, sufficiently hysterical that she'd had to be sedated.
All communication had been lost with California. People entering that part of the United States had made a few garbled reports before they too dropped all communications.
There was speculation that it was the American government itself which was causing the news blackouts, that something so horrible had occurred there that the American people themselves couldn't deal with it. Whether this was just paranoia or had a basis in fact had yet to be established.
After the clock ran down, an image filled the screen.
