She wasn't an expert with the lightsaber, she wasn't that fond of blasters, and while she was a pretty darn good pilot - that wasn't her particular special gift.
Images from things going on off-system reached her but she tuned them out. Always in motion the future was, and little could be affected by her.
She was old. Not perhaps as old as Master Yoda, but then Master Yoda had died just prior to the Battle Of Endor. For a human though - she was quite old. The Force was a powerful ally but it could not stave off aging forever.
It meant, among other things, that she was quite practiced in her specialty - clairvoyance. It had been that skill that had kept her alive when bright lightsaber talents like Bultar Swan had been cut down. She had foreseen the coming purge but too late to stop it and to vague to produce evidence. She'd put out warnings to certain other Jedi.
'Prepare a hiding hole.' 'Death comes from many sources and the Jedi Council will be broken from without and within. A generation will pass in the Dark before the Light has a chance to return.' - Some had listened. Some had not.
Now there were those like Kyle Katarn running about. That Twi'lek woman. One or two others barely glimpsed, as they tried to keep their learnings alive.
Ku Loren's senses rolled across the moon's surface as she turned from fickle precog to more certain clairvoyance. There was the bright lines of Xiang Yi. Not a Jedi - far from it. Force Sensitive though. Which had been why she'd showed herself to Xiang Yi and gotten the young girl in touch with the rangers.
There was the enigma of Captain Akane Tenso, feeling like she was out of tune with the world around her. There was a bounty hunter and a bunch of the natives following her.
There was the Farghul twins, Bing and Bang, and their two new friends - apparently looking for something. Ah, they sought the bounty hunter.
There was the hub of activity that she had sought. The new refugees. There. There was one that Fate had singled out. Ku Loren focussed more intently on that lone individual.
Unbeknownst to anyone, Akane's briefing cube had clicked over a new message.
Which was really a pity as Akane would have tried to figure out from the time the message appeared that the potential hero she was supposed to assist was actually:
