Faking It - Great Guardians: New World in the Morning [Episode 226264]

by Gorgo

Tomobiki, at dawn…

Shiryû Chôun shuddered as she felt the first rays of light peek through the slit in the tent located to one side of the Moroboshi home, and then she briefly opened her eyes to gaze around. Immediately seeing that the other cot was now empty of the woman who had slept there, the silver-haired tôshi closed her eyes as she allowed her metasenses to locate who was where. Ranma-san and Hakufu-san are asleep in their own tent, she mused as she slipped the covers away and began to dress. Kingch'eng-dono is in her tent with Ayumu-san. Seuchsa-dono is up and grazing on the grass. And Kuohu-san… She then smiled.

Within a minute, she was fully dressed, her sheathed katana at the ready by the door as she moved to clean up her personal space. A mental note of thanks was projected towards Kuohu for her thoughtfulness in providing almost all the comforts of home when she moved supplies from her ship (still docked at Narita Airport) via teleporter to the Moroboshi home so she and her adopted sister (as well as Shiryû) could sleep in comfort. No doubt, with all the wandering she and Kingch'eng-dono have done on all the worlds of the Noukiite Outmarches carrying out their crusade against bandits and highwaymen, Kuohu-san has long since learned how to enjoy nights in the field.

Once the cot was folded up and stowed away and the blankets placed somewhere dry for return to Kuohu's ship, Shiryû picked up her katana and walked outside, her face "focusing" on the raven-haired woman in the red-trimmed uniform with a green-and-white top and dark grey pants, her beautiful guändäo-like weapon — it still boggled Shiryû's mind that Kuohu's blade was actually called the Chuokkyet-e, the "Frost Blood Blade" — in hand as she held something to her other ear. As she approached the other woman, Kuohu turned to gaze on Shiryû, nodding with a smile before she turned back to gaze out on the street. Shiryû was then able to sense what was in her hand. A communicator, she mused to herself. Who is she talking to…?

"<<Stay save, Beloved. I love you,>>" Kuohu said in Noukiite before she cut the link, and then she gazed on Shiryû. "My fiancée."

"T'uokch'eng-dono," Shiryû mused, a smile crossing her face.

"Hai." A sigh. "It's so strange. For two lifetimes, ever since we trained together on the plains near Ryekkyuk when we were children, our love has never faltered. Even after the collapse of Ait'uch Nehech and Fate forced us on different sides in the Tri-Kingdoms Wars, our love never died." She closed her eyes, they glistening with tears of joy. "I died in her arms. Did I tell you that last night, Kumomi?"

A shake of the head. "No, Kuohu-san, you didn't." Kuohu had finally been able to make the very polite Shiryû address her by childhood name, using a formal ceremony the Flower Youth had created in this life to employ with each other. "I know you fell thanks to the forces under the command of Shimei-san's spirit-sister Nut'yek-dono, then serving as a general of Hichp'u, but you didn't tell me that part of it."

A sigh. "After I was found bleeding, Kuhu sent a flag of truce to one of the Eap'ye fortresses then on land K'uongno claimed. As luck would have it, Seup'it' was there helping train the troops. When the message came in, Seup'it' allowed Kuhu to bring me in so I could be with her." She closed her eyes. "One of her solders, who was quite loyal to her, knew how much my being wounded had hurt Kuhu, so she also came with a vial of poison to kill herself with once Seup'it' and I reunited."

Shiryû's eyebrows arched. "She committed suicide?"

A nod. "'Sister shall never raise arms against sister.'"

"That's so sad."

Kuohu smiled. "Hai, it is, but I would have done the same if our positions were reversed," she explained. "And while I lay in my beloved's arms, we vowed that if we both lived into the next life ahead of us, we would marry." A shrug. "And thanks to the Most Venerable Ganzo, we did. And two weeks from now…"

"Tip'heng."

"Hai."

A hum. "Are you and Nut'yek-dono friends now?"

"Oh, of course," Kuohu said with a smile. "I was there when she took the promise oath with Lum's sister Hensô at the Okusei Academy." A sigh. "I doubt they have had the chance to have children, but I suspect it might come soon." A shrug. "They might be a little disappointed, though, now that Tariko is a girl full-time."

Shiryû grinned as her hand reached up to cover her mouth to stop a laugh. "You would have asked her — as Ataru-san — to be the surrogate father?"

"But of course. He is — pardon me, was — extremely well-endowed."

The silver-haired tôshi shuddered as a laugh escaped her. "No one in Tomobiki — save for Ataru-san's would-be 'handmaidens' and Hiromi-sama's attendants — would ever accept something like that!" she stated as she shook her head.

A snort. "Who cares about k'uk'e like that?"

A nod. "True…" Shiryû said, and then she perked on hearing her cell phone sound off the beep warning of a text message coming in. "Excuse me, please," she said as she pulled out her NTT DoCoMo Panasonic P-09A smart phone, opening her eyes to gaze on the message there as it flashed across the screen. "Excellent…"

"Seito is marching?" Kuohu asked.

Shiryû nodded as she stowed her phone, closing her eyes. "Just left Shiroku station."

A nod. "Excellent. Well, best get Kyekkyek up…"

Kuohu then walked over to the tent on the other side of the house, where Kyekkyek was sleeping. Nodding a good morning to Seuchsa, who squealed in delight on seeing his rider's beloved sister, the raven-haired free warrior then peeked in, her mouth opening to call out Kyekkyek's name…until she shut it immediately on seeing that the redhead was not alone. Oh, MY! she mentally exclaimed on seeing Kyekkyek on her airbag futon, lying on her back nude (as she normally slept in the field; she HATED cots)…with none other than a nude Ayumu Inaba at her side, curled up against her and with her arms wrapped around the other woman's waist. Kyekkyek appeared awake, with her eyes wide in either fright or disbelief, her jaw dropped from her mouth. Ayumu was blissfully asleep, though she seemed to be muttering something.

Kuohu tilted her head, and then she blinked on hearing Ayumu croon out, "Perfect Kyekkyek…beautiful Kyekkyek…wonderful Kyekkyek…"

Suddenly, Kyekkyek moaned, her eyes now spiralling. "Tariko's gonna KILL me…I'm gonna die…I'm gonna die…I don't want to leave Kuohu all alone…"

Kuohu blinked, and then she smirked as she extracted herself silently from the tent. By then, Shiryû had come over to join her. "Are they alright?"

Kuohu shushed the tôshi, and then waved her to the front door. "I think so," she said with a knowing smile before she opened the door to head inside.

Shiryû giggled…

On the Tôkaidô Shinkansen, heading east from Odawara station…

"Who are those people…?"

"High school students, I think…"

"Are you sure…?"

"My gods! Look at their ears!"

Gasps filled the car of the Kodama train as it sped northeast towards Shin-Yokohama, the last stop before Shinagawa station, where the tôshi of Kyoshô would disembark and transfer to the Yamanote line for the ride to Ikebukuro, thus being able to approach Tomobiki from the east. Hearing the whispered conversations of the few onlookers in the car, Genjô Kakôton breathed out before she gazed on Môtoku Sôsô. "We should'a taken the normal train east from Kôzu to Shinagawa, Torumi," she whispered to her cousin and school leader. "This is too damned open for us."

"We need speed, Makoto. Relax," Môtoku replied with a wink.

"Torumi?"

Both turned as Hôkô Kakuha came up to join them. "What is it, Yoshimi?" Môtoku asked.

"Just got confirmation," the blonde tôshi stated. "Everyone's on the move."

Genjô gaped as Môtoku stared at her. "You sure it's everyone."

A sigh. "All of Seito and Rakuyô. Two-thirds of Yoshû under Môki Bachô's leadership. At least half of Gogun under Ukitsu and half of Yôshû under Shigi Taishiji. And a good contingent from Nan'yô under Shikei Roshuku, mostly freshmen and juniors." Hôkô then took a deep breath. "Torumi, the Kôshi Kasshi are riding in, too."

Môtoku jolted on hearing that, her eyebrow arching. "All of them?"

A grim nod. "Friend from Yoshû was there when Bachô got a message from Bagangi. Chôkaku got a message from Ryûbi through Ryûhi, then agreed to jump in. All in."

A nod. "Excellent."

"Torumi?!" Genjô gasped, her jaw now somewhere down on the floor.

A smirk. "Mobile cavalry, Makoto."

A sigh. "Torumi, you KNOW how…!"

Môtoku closed her eyes. "Makoto, think it through. Now's NOT the time for that nonsense," she hissed out as she glared her cousin down. "Pass the word to all the class leaders. Once we're in Tomobiki, we're under flag of truce rules. NO action is to be done against any tôshi, even any of the Kôshi Kasshi. Anyone disobeys, they will personally answer to ME!" She glared at Hôkô, and then Genjô. "Understood?"

Both women tensed, and then they nodded. "No problem, Torumi," Genjô said.

"Good. Pass the word on."

Genjô and Hôkô nodded again, and then they were off. Môtoku watched them go, and then she breathed out as she relaxed against the wall, staring outside as the scenery passed by at the 285 kilometres-per-hour the Kodama was capable of doing. She then perked as an elderly lady looked at her from a nearby seat. "Heading to a fight, dear?"

The leader of Kyoshô smiled. "Hoping to prevent one, Obâ-chan…"

The other woman smiled in return. "That's good to hear."

The Moroboshi home…

"Osu."

Shiryû tensed, and then she nodded. "Ohayô gozaimashita, Ranma-san, Tsueko-san. Did you sleep well last night?" she said as she "stared" at Ranma and Hakufu.

"We did more than just sleep, Un-chan," Hakufu said with her normal bright smile as she leaned over to hug her lover. "How about you? Did you miss En-chan last night?"

Shiryû smiled. "I always miss Mien when she is not with me, Tsueko-san. Worry not about it, though. I'm sure I'll make it up to her this evening."

"All your friends coming?" Ranma wondered.

"Hai," Shiryû affirmed with a nod. "They should be passing Chichibu station around this time, taking the direct train into Tomobiki-chûô. We'll have more than enough re-enforcements in town by the time Kuohu-san's fiancée and her friends arrive."

"That's good…" Hakufu said, and then she tensed as she looked over. "Oh, Mô-chan, ohayô!" she called out on seeing Shimei Ryomô appear past the edge of Kuohu's tent, and then she gaped. "Mô-chan! Are you alright?! What's wrong?!"

Shimei moaned as she leaned on the stone fence while slowly staggering towards the front gate of the Moroboshi home. "Don't shout so damned loud, Sonsaku…!" she moaned as she stopped to glare at her schoolmate. "It's too damned early…!"

"Calm yourself, Mimôko," a new voice then hailed. "You're exhausted and dehydrated from the amount of stimulation Mutsumi gave you during the night."

"Ohayô, Negako-sama, Shinmi-san," Shiryû said, bowing as Negako walked up, accompanied by Suikô Kajin, who also looked a little winded. "I trust your evening was pleasant."

"Depends on how you term 'pleasant,' Kumomi-chan," Suikô grunted as she leaned against the front fence wall, and then she looked over. "Damn! You, too, Mimôko-chan?!"

"Y-yeah!" Shimei grunted. "How far did she push you?"

A deep breath. "All — friggin' — fifty-two — steps!"

Shimei stared at her, and then she fainted. "MÔ-CHAN!" Hakufu cried out as she bounded over the wall to look in on her passed-out schoolmate. "Mô-chan! What's wrong?! Speak to me, Mô-chan!" She started to shake Shimei's body. "Mô-chan!"

Ranma watched her lover for a moment, and then she stared at Suikô before gazing back at Negako. The grandmaster was gazing in veiled amusement at her companion. "Now that you have been properly disciplined for you even thinking of trying to make me slavishly follow your own cause, I ask this, Shinmi: Will you do it again?"

An immediate shake of the head. "Uh-uh! I ain't THAT stupid, Negako."

"Very well. Ensure I have no reason to not believe you."

Suikô immediately nodded. "No problem."

By then, the window on the upstairs floor had opened, revealing a smiling Hiromi Moroboshi. "Ohayô gozaimasu, Onê-sama, everyone!" She then blinked on seeing Suikô barely hanging onto consciousness at the fence line and Hakufu moving to pick up a still-unconscious Shimei from the side street to her left. "What happened?!"

Negako looked up. "We need a considerable amount of the mixed tôki/jinshin tea made, Hiromi," she answered. "Some of the girls experimented with the Gojûni Sanji. And I had to properly discipline Shinmi with it to ensure she no longer exceeds her bounds."

Hiromi blanched on hearing that, and then she nodded as she closed the window, and then raced down into the kitchen. Negako then headed inside, shaking her head slightly. She was soon followed by a panting Suikô, and then by Hakufu carrying in the still-unconscious Shimei. Ranma and Shiryû watched them head inside, and then exchanged a "look." "What the heck is Gojûni Sanji?" the former asked. "Never heard of it."

"I fear to learn that answer, Ranma-san," the latter mused.

Sometime later…

"Tadaima! Tariko! Lum-chan! Are you here?!"

"In here, Kâ-chan!"

The front door to the Moroboshi home closed as Muchi and Kinshô Moroboshi walked in, turning automatically to gaze into the living room — and then both gasped on seeing the considerable crowd in there enjoying a very early breakfast. Taking in the presence of so many strange faces in her living room, Kinshô blinked several times, and then she turned to Tariko and Hiromi, who were seated at the head of the table by the north wall, both bracketing Negako and a recovered Suikô. "Um, Tariko, Hiromi-chan, who ARE all these people?" she demanded. "I recognise Lum-chan's friends, Shinobu-chan, Ranma-chan, her girlfriend and your friends from Noukiios, but who are…?!"

Hiromi sighed. "All of Onê-san's former android replicas, please raise your hands."

Twelve hands went up. Seeing that, Kinshô gasped before she dropped to her knees. "What happened?!" Muchi asked as he moved to comfort his wife.

"Unpredicted side-effect of when we used the mana node under the Tarôzakura to finally give Onê-chan her own body," Tariko said as she waved to Negako.

"But it was corrected," Kyech said as she nibbled her favourite nikuman.

Silence.

More silence.

Still more silence.

And then…

"I HAVE FIFTEEN DAUGHTERS?! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

As everyone ducked the shower of tears from Kinshô, Shiryû turned to "look" at Tariko. "I believe that your mother certainly can accept that, Tariko-san."

"Wait for it," Tariko warned.

WHANG!

"QUIET! YOU'RE MAKING TOO MUCH NOISE!"

"KYEKKYEK!" Kuohu screamed out.

Everyone then watched as a STILL-dazed Kyekkyek stumble-marched back to her seat beside Ayumu, who had been feeding her cooked tofu dipped in Korean koch'ujang sauce when she showed no signs of making any serious recovery from what happened during their time together in the Noukiite's field tent. "Now, you sit down, Kyekkyek and open wide!" Ayumu playfully said as she held out a chopsticks-full serving of tofu. "AAAAAAAH!"

"Aaaaaah…" Kyekkyek droned as she took that into her mouth and started to munch.

Others watched her, including a relieved-looking Kuohu. "Well, at least she's now eating healthier foods," she said as she returned to her own tofu stew.

"Why do you say that, Kuohu?" Benten asked.

"Whenever we travelled to the larger cities, she'd eat nothing more than fried yek'hup', as much as she could get," the raven-haired free warrior said before sipping her tea, and then fishing for more tofu. "Try as I might, I can't seem to stop her from heading straight to a heart attack before she reaches a hundred years of age."

"That would be a concern," Oyuki mused.

People continued to eat as a grinning Muchi helped Kinshô stagger into the kitchen so she could recover from the blade-flat strike Kyekkyek had just dropped on her head. Many of the people at the table were quick to see that Ayumu's companion was still quite out of it. Tariko then smirked as she exchanged a wink with Kuohu, and then she cleared her throat. "Hey, Kyekkyek! Did you have a dream last night?"

An absent hum. "Yeah, Tariko, I had a dream…"

"Was it a naughty dream?"

"I dunno…"

"What did you dream of, Kyekkyek?" Mutsumi Horikawa asked from beside Shimei.

"Some stranger girl calling me 'perfect' and 'beautiful' and all that…" Kyekkyek then shook her head. "No one ever called me that before…"

Giggles filled the room as people exchanged knowing looks, and then At'at'at' smirked as she picked up her tea cup. "Kyekkyek, you better take a look to your left."

Kyekkyek blinked, and then she slowly turned left to stare into Ayumu's beaming face. Silence fell over them as the red-haired free warrior took that image in, and then she screamed in fright as she jumped straight into the air and landed in a glomp right over Kyech's head and upper body. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! IT'S SOME DARK DREAM ANGEL OUT TO GET ME! GET HER AWAY FROM ME! KUOHU, HELP!"

Kuohu moaned as most everyone else laughed, even Ayumu. "KYEKKYEK!"

"Kyekkyek, I would like to eat, please."

Kyekkyek blink-blinked several times, and then she hopped off Kyech to gaze happily at her. "Oh, Kyech! I'm sorry! Don't mind me! Don't mind me!" she blurted out as a dazed look crossed her face again. "Hoa-oa-oa-oa-oa-oa-oa-oa-oa-oa-oan…!"

Kuohu moaned as everyone else howled with laughter…

Sometime later…

"Honestly, Kyekkyek! You had to make that type of scene in Tariko's house?!"

"I couldn't help it, Kuohu! And why was Ayumu feeding me all that weird stuff?!"

A sigh. "That was just the local version of ch'iechnuk-nniuo with some etanuk paste put in to make it tasty. It's the very same thing Ch'esyuk likes."

"Well, I DON'T like it! What was she trying to do?! Poison me?!"

A moan. "Kyekkyek…"

"Um, Kuohu-san…?"

Kuohu looked over her shoulder at Shinobu. "Hai?"

Shinobu — along with all of Ataru's Handmaidens — were trying desperately NOT to sweat too much as they found themselves being proceeded ahead to school by Kuohu and Kyekkyek, with Kyech and At'at'at' behind them, they on both sides of Seuchsa. All eleven Terran girls were in their school uniforms, book bags in hand ready for another day of classes. Classes that were guaranteed to be interrupted in four hours' time. "Pardon us for butting into your little argument with your adopted sister here, but is there some reason you're all escorting us to school?" She then flustered as her eyes quickly spotted the whispering crowds on both sides of the road. "People are…"

"We are merely making sure that you ladies — all of whom mean very much to Tariko, Hiromi and their sisters — make it to school without molestation from perverted k'uk'e like those idiots we fought last night. Don't worry about it, Shinobu," Kuohu replied.

"Yeah!" Kyekkyek snarled as she moved to twirl her bladed polearm over her head. "Just let some creep come up and bother you! I'll personally cut off their arms, legs, heads and nuts from their bodies and feed them live to a nest of vipers!"

Kuohu gasped. "Kyekkyek!"

Hearing that dire threat from the red-haired free warrior, many of the passing boys — some of whom actually had been involved in the previous night's brawl at the Moroboshi home (as witness all the bandages they had on their persons) — could only wince in fear as they moved to make a quick retreat away from the crowd of girls being escorted by the alien warriors. Noting that, Momoe then giggled. "Well, we can't deny they do have their hearts in the right places. Right, everyone?"

"Damn straight about that, Momoe-chan," Yuka Sada stated.

"Ne, ne, Kyekye-chan!" Keiko Kinjô then called out as she raced up to walk alongside Kyekkyek. "What would you do if it was Ayumu-chan that was being molested?!"

"THEY'D GET IT WORSE!" Kyekkyek screamed out.

"Oh, so you DO love her, don't you?!" Kumiko Gekasawa probed.

Kyekkyek awked, and then her cheeks turned flush-red before she looked away. "W-well, she's n-n-nice…!" she sputtered, and then she looked away as she added, "Even if she DOES feed me that weird stuff!"

"At least you won't be going alone to Tip'heng this year," Kuohu stated.

Kyekkyek jerked, and then she clutched her weapon closer to her. "Y-y-yeah…"

Behind her, all their companions tried not laugh too much…

And a dozen paces or so behind Kyech and At'at'at'…

"It's strange watching them, isn't it?" Ranma mused.

A nod. "They're so different than us…" Shimei commented.

"And yet in all the ways that count, they are us," Shiryû noted.

Hakufu nodded. "So, Ma-chan, we still going to Kaisei?"

A nod. "You bet!" Ranma said. "But let's make sure we don't waltz into something like Tariko and Lum ran into at Morningstar Plain on Okusei."

"'Morningstar Plain?'" Shiryû asked.

"A big fight between a corps' worth of bandits on one side, and Kyech, Tariko, Lum and some girl named Hup'yech on the other. They got joined later by Kuohu's fiancée, her other adopted sister and Hup'yech's big sister Hep'p'yech; they're the governors of the nearest colonies to us: Tengsei, Kaisei and Kesei. Sixty-four thousand on one side and three hundred and so on the other." Ranma then smirked. "Kyech had them all outnumbered on her own, but when Tariko got smacked on the back of her head…"

"Negako-sama was freed and turned the fight into a massacre," Shiryû concluded.

"Yeah! Afterward, when Tariko woke up and realised what had happened, she almost begged someone to kill her," Ranma breathed out. "Can't blame her, though."

"Would we have survived something like that?" Shimei wondered.

"We could have if we allowed ourselves to unleash the baser instincts inside all of us," Shiryû stated. "Instincts that helped us survive eighteen hundred years ago quite well. Yet…" She sighed. "I think I can see what worries Hiromi-sama so much."

Shimei nodded. "In a way, we are anachronisms in this time, aren't we?"

"Start thinking that and you just screwed yourself, Mô-chan."

Shimei gazed on Ranma, and then she nodded as she looked ahead. "That's true. I wonder how many other people have come to see that amongst us."

"Gentoku-san seems to have done that," Shiryû noted.

"So have I," Hakufu stated. "I mean, I'll always be a martial artist and a warrior. But maybe there are other things we can do along the way."

"What could those be?" Shimei asked, and then she sighed. "Oh, joy…!"

"What is it?" Shiryû asked.

"EVIL SPIRIT! BEGONE!"

Shimei lashed out with her foot to catch Cherry in the jaw, sending the hapless monk flying into the sky over Tomobiki. "GET LOST, YOU LIFELESS FOOL!" she screamed.

"It's Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate…!"

The tôshi and their companion watched the monk vanish into the sky, and then they carried on. "Man, this place IS too much like Nerima!" Ranma mused as she linked her hands together behind her head. She then winced. "Ooops…!"

"Ma-chan! Don't say such unlucky things!" Hakufu hissed at her.

"Excuse me."

All four stopped, and then turned left to see Unchô Kan'u walk up from a side street. Behind her at several dozen paces was the approaching mass of Seito students, followed by the large contingent of Yoshû tôshi. Leading them both, with their school banners right behind them, were Gentoku Ryûbi and a tall, slender blonde, blue-eyed girl who looked distantly like Hakufu Sonsaku save for her hair being tied in a high ponytail. "Ah, Unchô-san, ohayô gozaimashita," Shiryû greeted her friend with a bow. "I see we were able to recruit Môki-san and many of her friends to join us today."

Unchô nodded. "She texted me last night. We've got two-thirds of Yoshû with us today, with half of Gogun soon to arrive right behind us under Ukitsu's command. Friends have told us that all the schools are coming out today, not to mention the Kôshi Kasshi."

Shiryû and Shimei tensed on hearing that. Ranma looked confused. Hakufu blinked, and then she gasped. "Oh, great! That means Chû-chan'll be here today, too!"

Everyone stared at her. "You know one of them, Sonsaku?" Shimei asked.

"She's Fu-chan's paternal cousin, Mô-chan," Ranma answered for her lover. "Minaka Mago. She goes by 'Sonchû.'" A smirk. "Haeko-obachan always cries in joy whenever Chû-chan comes by with her friends to visit the house."

A laugh. "Yeah! My parents are the same way when my cousin comes by to visit, too!"

"Ohayô gozaimashita, Môki-san," Shiryû greeted Môki Bachô with a polite bow as she came up with Gentoku. "Thank you so much for joining us today."

"Eh?! Chô-chan has a cousin, too?" Hakufu asked.

Môki nodded. "Yeah! She's Motoyoi Uma; everyone calls her 'Bagangi.' She leads one of the squads of the Kôshi Kasshi; all ex-Yoshû girls, too." She pointed to Hakufu. "My cousin knows your cousin, too. Not to mention Gentoku's cousin."

"Really?!" Hakufu gasped, and then she hummed. "Bi-chan, is that your cousin Hi-chan?"

Gentoku nodded. "The very same, Ranma-san. Lucky thing I called her to pass on the news to Chôkaku-san and ask for their help here today."

Unchô winced. "Gentoku, I still think…!"

Gentoku's glasses glittered. "Kan-san! Not — another — word!"

The taller tôshi jolted as she braced herself. "H-h-Hai…!"

"You gotta let bygones be bygones, Unchô," Môki mused aloud.

"Excuse me."

Everyone turned as Shinobu came up, accompanied by Kuohu. "Hai?" Gentoku said, and then her eyes widened. "Ah! You must be Shinobu Miyake!"

Shinobu blushed. "H-hai!"

The leader of Seito came up, bowing respectfully to her, and then she grasped Shinobu's hands. "I'm so pleased to meet you. I'm Sonami Koro, student council president at Seito High School in Chichibu. Everyone calls me 'Gentoku Ryûbi,' by the way."

Shinobu gaped, and then she bowed in return. "Yoroshiku, Sonami-san! Um…so what brings you and all your classmates here today?"

By then, the first rank of Seito tôshi had come up to join them. "What does it look like we're here for, Shinobu-chan!" the Seito flag bearer, Shido Môtatsu, called out.

"We heard you're having a bit of an infestation problem here," the Yoshû flag bearer — none other than Enjô Koshaji — added with a wink. "We decided to be neighbourly schools and come down to help do some exterminating."

"We hope you don't mind," Môki added with a wink.

Shinobu blinked, and then she laughed before she turned to face the mass of tôshi standing behind Shido and Enjô. "EVERYONE!" she called out to get their attention, and then she waved to her right. "COME ON! TOMOBIKI HIGH SCHOOL IS THIS WAY!"

Hearing that, everyone whooped as…
