However, it wasn't usual to have five teachers at the front of the room at the same time.
There was no way for Chitose to relax though, as he was right up there with them. He didn't want to be on display like this, but he didn't have much choice in the matter. Although he'd merely wanted a simple and quiet resolution to the latest problem, it had been turned into a big production by that damned official. Now he was not only getting attention that he'd never wanted, but everyone else was being dragged into it too.
Why, even poor Minazuki had been pulled here out of her own class, and was now looking lost and confused as to what was going on. It was his job as the guy in the family to keep trouble from their door, and about the only one who was not getting hassled was Hazuki, and that was only because she was out of the city at the moment. About everything was going crazy, and he simply couldn't see how it could get any more messed up.
"What the heck is going on here?" asked a clearly confused Fumitsuki as she glanced at the group at the blackboard.
"I am glad that you asked that," Fujioka replied from where he stood at the lectern. "You see, as part of my duties for the government, I have gotten these fine people to help me out."
"Oh, that doesn't sound so bad."
"Of course it doesn't. Seeing as they are being quite noble, they are doing something wonderful."
"I'd want to do something with them," admitted student 'B'.
Nodding, student 'C' gave a lecherous grin. "There are plenty of things to do."
"Unfortunately, they are off limits," the agent stated firmly.
"I should think so," Fumitsuki agreed with a sniff.
"Exactly. What I've done with them makes it so that they are already taken."
"What the heck does that mean?"
"They quite willingly volunteered to help out with the project that is concerning the government right now," Fujioka told the class. "And as such, I have arranged for them to be married to one of your own. So, right now, by legal definition, Mutsuki Ichimonji, Kisaragi Ninomai, Yayoi Sanzenin, Uzuki Shitenno, and Satsuki Gokajo are now the wives of Mister Chitose Hitose."
"WHAT?!" went everyone else, including Chitose and the teachers who went to crowd around the government official.
"I believe that I was clear about the situation."
"But this can't be allowed!" Fumitsuki barked as she shot to her feet, slapping her hands down onto her desk. "Such an... indecency can not stand!"
"That's a little much...."
"No, it's not! Don't you understand how... badly this has been done?!"
This was going to be it, as far as Chitose could tell. It would start with the class representative, and would grow from there, where public opinion would drive him and the teachers apart. The fact that those around them wouldn't be intending to be hurtful wouldn't matter, as the inability of their neighbors to understand would make them unable to be together. Such a thing would be the worst situation to be in, but there was little chance to stop it once it started. And the funniest part of it was that he could blame the rep, as it wasn't like she was even going to try to be mean towards him.
"How can you use them like this?!"
Okay, that wasn't quite what Chitose expected.
Fumitsuki blew out a breath and planted her hands on her hips. "Just grabbing people and making them get married isn't right by any means. After all, it's not supposed to be like that!"
"It's not, to be honest. They are trying to do their part to help out," Fujioka put in.
"Still, to force them into something like this."
"Class rep," Chitose murmured.
"Huh?" Fumitsuki grunted... and then turned away from her classmate as a flush grew onto her cheeks. "Don't get the wrong idea. I just don't want you to be taken advantage by anyone, especially in this sort of situation."
"Ah, that's right, you like Mister Hitose, don't you, Miss Nanakorobi," Fujioka drawled as he took out a small notebook and began leafing through the pages.
"Uh, that is... I...."
"Don't worry. Some of your classmates let me know of your interest in him."
The class representative's eyes widened for a moment... and then quickly narrowed as she turned to glare at students 'B' and 'C'.
"To be honest, it's been rather helpful. In fact, I have an appointment tonight to talk to your parents about you possibly marrying Mister Hitose."
Had the situation been different, the squeak that Fumitsuki gave off would have been the source of several giggles and chuckles among her classmates.
"Are you planning on dragging her into this?!" Chitose growled, his hands balling into fists.
Fujioka gave him a helpless smile. "Miss Nanakorobi was already drawn into this earlier."
"She was?"
"Pretty early on, in fact."
"But... what about me?" Minazuki asked in a small voice, her head bowed as she spoke.
"You had to be here, Miss Rokumatsuri," the agent told her. "As his 'little sister', you are his family, and family should be there when important things happen to each other."
"That's true...."
"Trust me, it's fine. Remember, I didn't just drag you in here for no reason."
"Wait a minute...." started one of the other students. "You're not going to marry her to him too?!"
"Certainly not. Beyond the fact that she's too young even now for marriage, her status is too... unclear to be sure who she'll wind up with."
"Huh? What is that supposed to mean for poor Minazuki?" Fumitsuki demanded, concern for her young friend overriding her own worries for the moment.
"Well, it seems that she is actually quite popular. Apparently between her willingness to study, and her athletic abilities, she's much admired. Because of that, I have received eight requests for her hand in marriage, five requests for her to be betrothed to them for when she is old enough to marry, sixteen requests for being set up on relationships, thirty-seven requests for introductions, and two requests for actions needing immediate legal investigation."
Minazuki blushed heavily as everyone began to realize that she was actually quite desired among the students, while:
