"Yes, well, this also is a part of Konmei's 'charm'," said Jiraiya.
"Huh?" asked Naruto as he looked over the old dusty shelves. Crystals, flasks, and other even more odd things lined shelves. Mostly though, he was looking at empty space. The major thing in this rickety old stall was this long table and some mummified old monkey or something.
It was while Naruto was examining the thing that it opened silvery eyes and regarded him. "You have an ominous face."
"AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" shrieked Naruto as he bounded away and hid behind a large object.
"Why are you hiding behind me?" asked Jiraiya as he actually was the large object in question.
"That- it- mummy!" managed Naruto.
"Hmph," said the old woman. "That's the problem with this generation. No respect."
"Oh, no argument at all there," said Jiraiya. "Naruto is actually especially gifted in that regard."
"I'm gifted?!" cheered up Naruto.
"Yes, when it comes to lack of respect, you're a genius," agreed Jiraiya.
"Yeah, that's... oh yeah right," said Naruto, losing the enthusiasm. "Yeesh. Do something worth respecting if you want respect. Pervy sage."
"'Sage'?" asked the old woman. "Are you then, a sage saddled with a disrespectful sprout like this?"
"HEY!" yelled Naruto.
"Your accents are of the Land Of Fire," said the old woman.
"Well, duh, can't you see my headband?" asked Naruto.
"Naruto, she's blind," pointed out Jiraiya.
"Oh," said Naruto, realizing for once he was putting his foot in it. "Err, uhm, sorry. I..."
"You wouldn't happen to be Jiraiya, the Toad Sage, who prophesy says..." the old woman stopped. "Not THAT boy is it?"
"I would be surprised if it turned out to be Naruto," admitted Jiraiya. "Though that's a secret. I'm surprised anyone this far away would know of it."
"Well, then, that explains my reading earlier," said the old woman. "It said I was to give a free reading today, and if it is to repay the debt I owe Jiraiya of the Leaf - that is all well then."
"It ain't poetry is it?" asked Naruto. "That stuff never makes any sense to me."
"You're the Blind Seer of Konmei then, the Prophet Of Stones," said Jiraiya. "Kahyusa."
"Yes," said the old woman, pulling little tiles out and setting them together.
"What is that?" asked Naruto.
"You don't play Mah Jong?" asked the old woman. "What a pity."
"I'll break, you form the Wall?" asked Jiraiya, revealing that he HAD played the game but was unfamiliar with the fortunetelling variety."
"Hmmm, perhaps cards would be better," said the old woman as she paused. "I normally perform readings with the mah jong, but I sense trouble following you or bad weather."
"It's already pretty bad," said Naruto, looking out at the rain.
"What kind of weather?" asked Jiraiya.
"I see black skies, red clouds," said the old woman.
"Right," said Jiraiya nodding. "Okay, any indication of how long we've got?"
"A few hours," said the old woman. "Do you understand this then?"
"I have an idea what it means," said Jiraiya. "Go ahead then. Cards will be fine."
"Aw, we don't have time for no card... wait a minute. Black with red clou-mpppph?" asked Naruto before Jiraiya's hand covered his mouth.
"I'm vaguely familiar with card-reading, but I've never seen it done," said Jiraiya. "Can you explain as you go?"
"You shuffle and cut the deck, so that your destiny is the one read," said Kahyusa. "Your chakra leaves an impression on the cards which allows me to identify them as well as use my talent."
"Naruto, here," said Jiraiya, handing off the deck. "Shuffle the deck."
"Gotcha," said Naruto.
flurppppppppp
"Now pick all the cards up and do it again," said Jiraiya.
"Are you sure you want him to be the one doing it?" asked the old woman.
"It really would be better if he did it," said Jiraiya.
"I suppose," said the old woman. "I'll make tea then. This may take awhile."
