Ranma leaned against Sango for support as the two of them started heading for the village.
"I don't think you should be making fun of me, especially after I helped you," the Yōkai Taijiya said, thinking that Ranma's remarks about a city were some kind of joke.
"I ain't makin' fun of ya," the pig-tailed martial artist protested. "It's just that--" He broke off his protests. "I think we're being watched," he murmured. With a nod from Sango, they both looked at the surrounding forest. Not seeing anything, they continued on. They barely went another two steps when Ranma suddenly grabbed his rescuer and guide by the shoulders and pulled the both of them backwards, Sango landing atop the male with a surprised gasp just as a large bird-like creature's talons grasped at the space they once occupied. "What the Hell was that!?"
"A yōkai," Sango answered him, "We should find cover before it circles back," she added.
Ranma, for his part, was already focusing his ki. "Too late," Ranma replied with a smirk despite the situation, "When I say so, roll offa me, got it?" Sango nodded, not sure about the man's plan. "MOVE!" Ranma ordered as his body began to glow with a slightly orange aura.
"Hai!" Sango complied, quickly rolling off of the male.
The martial artist thrust his hands cupped in front of himself once the woman was clear. "Mōkō Takabisha!" With that, a large ball of Ranma's ki shot upward and impacted the yōkai. Like a damaged fighter jet, the creature careened off course, crashing into the forest a distance away, leaving Ranma panting slightly.
Sango watched this in awe. "Impressive," she commented.
"Also very risky," came the pig-tailed boy's reply.
Sango nodded. Getting up, finally, she offered Ranma a hand to get up. "It's not likely that you killed it, so we've got to get moving again," stated the Taijiya, "You only bought us some time."
"Right." Ranma nodded. Sango then crouched down so that he could be carried piggy-back when:
