As Sayoko Shinozaki walked back to the small lounge where her fellow comrades from the Black Knights were currently sitting, she silently gave thanks to their Chinese Federation hosts for allowing her to use the kitchen and prepare authentic Japanese refreshments. After all, as good as those Chinese chefs were, they really couldn't prepare a good rice ball.
"Everyone, I brought..." Rather than the quiet atmosphere of the group watching the broadcast of the execution, there was... quite a bit of a ruckus. The minute she opened the door, she saw...
One Rakshata Chawla off the couch and with her tobacco pipe left on the ground. "Diethard, please tell me you're recording the broadcast!"
One Diethard Ried, who was a bit surprised at how much of a reaction this got out of the normally calm Indian scientist. "Who the hell do you think I am?! Of course, I'm getting it! As if I would ever let any chapter of Zero's revolution go undocumented! And this latest chapter... which begins with the word, Gundam..." That one single word sent excited chills through his spine as new possibilities of how the story may unfold opened up to him.
"Good! Because once we meet with Zero again, I must ask him about where he found that beautiful little boy! This will undoubtedly cause my other children to be jealous!"
Sayoko quietly slipped in the room and placed the snack tray on the table next to the blonde male. "Here are your refreshments, everyone."
Diethard nearly jumped out of his skin upon seeing the maid's appearance. "Dear God, don't scare me like that!"
"She was so quiet! Like a ninja! Wouldn't you agree, Mr. Diethard?" asked the ever energetic Sumeragi Kaguya as she helped herself to a snack.
"You seem to be taking this new development rather well, Lady Kaguya," replied the reporter.
"What is there to say? It is obvious that this is why Lord Zero vanished for a year. In order to bring this shining star of hope to the hearts of all Japanese." She smiled fondly at the television screen as it showed the image of the extremely large and powerful Knightmare Frame that her husband had built and prepared for this day.
On board the Avalon, a similar scene was unfolding...
"Everyone, I brought some refreshments!" Considering on how hard Lloyd Asplund and his staff were at work maintaining the Lancelot, making sure they kept their strength up was the least she could do.
Rather than hearing the sounds of machines and tools at work, Cécile Croomy only heard silence. The minute she entered, Lloyd along with some of the members of his research group, Camelot, were gathered around a single spot watching something on the television. "My God... how can they achieve such speed and agility on a Knightmare Frame that size?"
"It would have to require an extremely powerful source of energy in order for all of the components to keep up with pilot input commands. If my guess is correct, we're talking something that's at least one hundred times more powerful than the Yggdrasil Drive," replied Lloyd as he ran some math in his head.
"Um... what happened here?" asked Cécile in a quiet tone.
"That's what Prince Schneizel wants to know," mumbled another lab technician.
"No point worrying about it now. Our patron knows that at this point, the only thing we can do is to complete our work here." Lloyd then gave a small grin. "On the bright side, this is certain to increase our research budget! And we'll have more opportunities to field test some new technology! I wonder... once we upgrade the Lancelot, can it keep up with that Gundam?"
"Well, in that case..." Cécile presented her tray of freshly prepared sandwiches she personally prepared. "You boys better eat up so you can keep up with the workload!"
This caused every other face in the room to turn a healthy shade of white at the thought of eating that young woman's food.
