The vet leaned back and sighed and he brought up the records of the Catgirl formally known as Saotime Ranma. There had to be some hint in it to the abnormality with this pet. Normally the first step in the conversion process from human to pet was to take the psychic equivilant of a wrecking ball to their self image, shattering it to a digree that many couldn't even remember their own names without a reminder. Fragmenting the personality was simply a nessesity for having the programing take, so how did this kid come out fully intact.
Brining up the records, his jaw almost dropped. The reason was apparent. The kid's psyche was a fragmented mess to begin with. Several previous instances of magical mind control and behavior modification, a crippling phobia, two complete split personalities, one of which wasn't even human, and that on top of enough psychological and image problems to keep a whole battery of psychologists employed for a lifetime! It was a wonder the kid was able to wipe his own ass as much as function in society! Their standard mind crusher must have been like a gentle breeze to this kid. They didn't hit a window, they just rolled their hammer around in some broken glass and called it a job done and pored the programing on his intact, if it could be called such, personality!
He shook his head. No wonder it wasn't integration quickly, it still had to merge with his completely intact sense of self, and even then it would never completely override his sense of independence!
Infact, this could be a good thing! This was the goddamned holy grail! They'd always wanted smarter pets than the near mindless animals they'd been producing and this was the answer. Convert people with sever mental problems! Their minds are already a fragmented mess! He'd get promoted for this for sure!
He laughed and moved down the list and was surprised to see an internal memo connected to the name. Opening it he was even more surprised. Seems dumbass here got himself turned into a pet when someone else was turning herself into a pet just for him in the next damned chamber over. Well, that could be a problem as she paid herself, but as he was legally dead that could make it so she'd default to his next of kin, but if he was to play by her original intention he could sell them as a connected pair. In fact that might be a good idea. Seems Ranma had ordered a truly elaborate set of programing options which meant her price was going to be astronomical. By adding the other girl to the ticket they'd both fulfill the conditions of her order and give Ranma's price some buffer.
With a grin he ordered it and moved onto the next item on the list. Ranma's personal history.
He spent about five minutes reading it before he had seen enough. The kid was a walking natural disaster and trouble was going to follow him, probably from one of the many many people with a grudge, an engagement, or just some bone to pick. They wouldn't listen to reason, get that 'Ranma' was dead, or that he couldn't be turned back even if they wanted to! He had to find a way to get them out of his hair. Now.
Picking up his phone he said, “About the Catgirl we just converted?”
“Yes sir?”
