Magitech: Lyrical Magical Japan [Episode 229684]

The conference room was typical of its kind as far as furnishings were concerned. A long table, surrounded by lots of chairs. Windows which provided light and a view mainly composed of other buildings. Strict functionality, almost sterility, broken only by a coffee-maker chugging away on a side table.

The seven people sitting at that table were likewise fairly typical of what one would expect from such a setting.

"Initial findings?" asked one of the women.

"Both subjects bear marks of extradimensional forces," said an elderly man. "The older of the two, apparently the father of the younger, bears a Class 3 Demonic Taint. We're currently working on purifying him of that."

"Ah, my sympathies to the fellow," said the oldest of those involved, a scarred old man whose clothing looked to be older than some of the others sitting around the table. "That can be QUITE uncomfortable."

"The younger bears something altogether different, a spectra type we've not seen before," said the first older man. He put his hand out, which was surrounded instantly with circling glyphs as he activated a display.

The woman-in-charge stared at the holographic display before speaking. "What IS that? A Celestial marker?"

"That was our conclusion in Extradimensional as well," said the first man with a nod. "The father was infected in addition to the taint. A yoma-grub. Would have eventually turned him into a typical ravening monster hungering for all life. Etcetera. It has been extracted and destroyed, of course."

There were many nods around the table, as that WAS standard procedure.

"The boy's data is far more interesting," admitted the head of Extradimensional Research. "I've been communicating with Biosystems and Defense regarding the findings there."

The oldest man took that as his cue. "In Defense we've checked out the site of their arrival. They appeared in our reality twenty-seven meters above their landing points. Neither had any flight magic or parachutes and so impacted shortly thereafter. So far, everything bears up their stories about this being an unintended dimensional journey."

"Well, we've known something like this would happen eventually," pointed out one of the younger women. "So they're from an alternate Earth?"

"Right, one where magic apparently works but hasn't been developed," said the Extradimensional Research representitive. "In order to get details from the boy, all we've had to do is provide food and show a few simple spells."

"What sort of spells?" asked Defense, worried for a moment about spies.

"Very simple stuff," Extradimensional assured the older man. "Light spells, simple protection and flight. After his landing, the boy has been especially interested in the possibilities of flight spells."

There were a few answering chuckles at that, as it WAS a logical thing to expect.

"Medical? Anything to add, Doctor Takeuchi?" asked the woman at the end of the table.

Doctor Takeuchi cleared his throat, considered briefly, nodded, and visibly prepared himself. This gathered the attention of his colleagues quite well.

"Both are as human as most of our world's populace is," said Takeuchi. "Though if you'd seen their eating habits you might not think so. We found something very odd though, in the case of detailed scans of the child."

"Besides that he's an extradimensional human with a Celestial marker?" asked Extradimensional Research.

Medical nodded. "Yes, actually, he's-"
