In the far future, there is Masashi Kishimoto and his vastly popular video game about ninjas, ninjas with funny eyes, ninjas with funny hair, and ninjas with really thick eyebrows.
It's finally over!
Let the epilogue role!
…And so, this chapter of the story of the Elemental Nations has ended. Humanity is once again spared from extinction against all odds and with the end of this story, comes the end of your journey.
…Yet for all it's worth, this is not the end of your legend for there are many more journeys ahead. A new chapter in your story is yet to be written…
Phew. You sit back and sigh; finishing this story line—the True Ending according to some blogs you've read—was no easy task. It was more than just exhausting: your eyes burn from staring at the artificial lights for far too long, your limbs all feel like icicles and your back is hurting due to your habit of leaning forward as you focus far too much on the game.
It is Five A. M. now, and you've just completed a near week's worth of marathon gaming to finish this. There is a sense of satisfaction blossoming within your chest, one that dulls the pains of finally realizing all the pains of your body telling you to sleep. You let your eyes close in the briefest of moments for a comfort in rest you denied yourself. You are one of the last remaining 'hardcore' gamers left in this era of casual gamers.
As you exit the epilogue page, you notice something that causes you to frown. It is something that caused you to even skim over what happens to your nakama after the ending of the story. There in the title screen, you see a choice to view your achievements. When you were but an elementary school student, the concept of achievements was foreign to you, when you were then just beginning to play video games like Link's Awakening. Now, everyone raves about achievements and even your muscle-headed friends care about their achievements in their generic First Person Shooter games.
You click the option in the menu to see the achievements list tentatively. You wonder what kinds of achievements Masashi Kishimoto, the sole game designer and creator, had thought up in forms of digital medallions.
There were apparently many options you did not choose to peruse in your hurry to finish the game. Some of these achievements granted merely digital points, which was worthless to someone like yourself, who was not all that vain to care about something so immaterial. However, other achievements saw you to receive special items or even saw you unlock hidden areas in the game, something you did not know existed.
It has been a while now, and you find yourself staring at the character creation screen. Three nations (though more like giant city-states) blinked up at you, popping out of the screen. You have the choice between Tsuchi, Hi, and Kaminari origin-nations to choose from. As with your first time around, you choose the largest nation, the Land of Fire. Immediately, three storyline-origins are presented to you, replacing the map. Each of these origins has a single default character model created for that class, Noble, Commoner, and Orphan.
Under the Noble origin, there is a sulking, dark-haired boy glaring at you with his hands tucked as deep as possible into his pockets as your mouse cursor hovered over him. The moment your mouse was on him, his glare intensified and a swirl of snakes and fire appeared around him. You snicker, remembering one of your one-time companions looking almost exactly like him. One of your real-life friends really liked playing as this character, because it was fast and struck hard. However, he is not the main character you wish to play as, so you move on.
Under the Commoner origin, you see a girl with pink hair smiling shyly up at you. The moment your mouse passed over her, she brought her hands up to form a kuji-in seal with both hands and biting down hard on a small scroll that appeared in her mouth. You know that she looked most like a real ninja out of all three of them, but you are a bit sexist, and you don't really want to have romance all the nice female characters with another female character or worse… have to beat off the advances of other male characters. Disgusting, you shake your head mentally, repeating to yourself that on one hand you are not homophobic but on the other you are not homosexual either. Plus, one of your ex-girlfriends adored playing this character so you'd rather not touch it anymore. Perhaps that was why you cased after her the first time in the game?
The last class is the Orphan origin class, and that is the one you chose last time. The default character presented to you is a short boy with spiky blond hair. You mouse hovers over him, and he does a back-flip but falls on his ass. The animation of the character then gets up and starts rubbing his hurt buttocks. As you click on him, his name appears below him, but only his last name, Uzumaki is there. You type in Naruto as you did last time. You enjoy those Japanese noodles greatly and always found it funny that they put in those little pieces of swirly fish cakes in their soup.
