A meteor streaked across the sky. Onzruk, lord of the Southern Goblin Tribes, consulted his shamans.
The prophecy that had been made to his ancestors by the Mistress of Time was that his tribe would be able to set in motion events that would lead to the ultimate destruction of the ancient enemy - and, with luck, the saving of many worlds, including their own.
Onzruk chuckled at the reassurances of his shamans. He knew by the smell of brimstone what he was dealing with. I'll have to send them into Goblinwatch if tonight really was the night, he thought to himself.
Another meteor shot across the sky. Then another. Soon, the entire sky was lit up with Shooting Stars. Onzruk shuddered at the memories, suppressed by many long months. He and his line had been living near a volcano to the west. The last time that he had seen his ancestral home, was also the first time he had met THEM.
"All goblins return to the fortress," he growled to his shamans "and fortify the defenses. Tell my mate that I love her and will be waiting for her on the other side of the Dread River."
He gripped the scroll tight to his chest. Assuming Falagar didn't screw up and summon some teenage wizard girl, or some pink-haired idiot of a cleric, or something else stupid like that, his sacrifice tonight would lead to, if not peace on Ergoth, then at least salvation from the ancient enemy.
----
Some people said that, on the Night of Shooting Stars, the gods themselves revoked the right of the Line of Ironfist to rule, and that the heavens themselves crashed on the world as a punishment for following them.
It wasn't the heavens that arrived on Ergoth that night. It was something worse.
----
Falagar, master of portals and gates, stared in horror at what he had summoned to the world.
A tall sixteen year old girl, with blonde hair and long, twin pigtails. She wore a gold locket with a crescent moon and four strange symbols engraved on it on her chest, and her bag had the name Tsukino Usagi woven into it.
A pink-haired boy, with a large sword and radiating an impressive amount of power. The name Trunks was inscribed on his clothing.
A very young girl, no older than twelve, with a long staff, and radiating almost as much power as the boy. "Takamachi Nanoha" chuckled Falagar.
A green haired boy carrying a satchel of junk. Around his neck was a charm with the number Eleven inscribed on it, and underneath that was engraved the name Kosuke Ueki.
There was not much time left to try again. He might have to save the worlds with what he was given.
