"What...?"
Lum sniffs, then leans closer to Megane, uncaring that his shivering manhood was now pressing into the crevasse between her shapely rear and the back of her thigh. That feeling, augmented by Moreau's flu, was making it harder for the Oni princess to think, but it wasn't totally robbing her of her intelligence. And given the accumulated pain and concerns the last two months had brought up inside her, it was either time to face up to the facts or live forever in a morass of uncertainty.
"Lum-san, are you sure...?" Megane gently prods.
Lum stares at him, then smiles. "Arigatou, Aisuru," she gently rubs his nose, then takes a deep breath. "And yes, I'm sure."
"But, Lum..." Shinobu begins.
The Oni gives her a fiery look that soon melts into a melancholic stare. "It's alright, Shinobu. I..." she takes a deep breath, then sighs. "I know. It's over between Dar-..." she stops herself, then gazes on Megane. "Between Ataru and I now."
The Terrans gaze on the alien in stunned disbelief. NEVER had they ever heard Lum address Ataru Moroboshi by name, not even when she was throughly enraged with him. "Lum-san..." Megane begins.
"You're my Darling now, Aisuru. If you'll have me."
Megane nearly passes out in shock at Lum's declaration, then he looks down at the floor -- actually, Lum's crotch, but that didn't matter exactly at this time. "I..." he shakes his head, then stares into her eyes. "I just can't...! I mean, YES, of course I'll marry you, Lum-san, but...!!" he stops, then sighs. "This is so sudden. I mean...! Well, why ME?!!"
"Why NOT you, Darling?!" Lum bolts to her feet, then moves a metre away from Megane before facing him. "Ever since I came here, there you were, ready to help me whenever I needed it. You knew from the start that I wanted Ataru even though you wanted me yourself. What did you do? You swallowed your feelings and elected to help me get the man I wanted. The man..." she sniffs, tears streaming down her cheeks. "The man who really never wanted me in the first place..."
"Lum..." Megane gasps.
"Lum, that's not true!!" Shinobu blurts out. "Okay, Ataru-kun's an idiot and all that, but I know he cares for you...!"
"Shinobu, stop, please!" Lum cuts her off, then sighs. "There's no need for that anymore! Please!"
Silence falls as the Terrans gaze on the Oni. Lum hugs herself, then takes a deep breath. "If Ataru really loved me, why didn't he agree to let me live with him when Tampopo-san became his legal guardian. If Ataru really loved me, why didn't he fight being shifted over to Class Two-six? If Ataru really loved me, why hasn't he tried to spend more time with me? Why?" she gazes on her former rival, then the man she now knew, Moreau flu or no, that she was going to spend the rest of her life with. "It's simple. I don't know what Ataru's real feelings are about me, but I know now that love isn't one of them. Who's fault is it? Well..." she sighs. "Ultimately, it's mine..."
"No, it's not, Lum...!!" Megane blurts out.
"Stop it, Darling!!"
He stares at her. "Please, just don't do that anymore!" Lum waves him down. "I...! I just don't want to think of Ataru right now."
"But Lum..."
"No, Shinobu, please stop!" the Oni hisses, causing Shinobu to falter as sparks fly over Lum's body. "I've made my choice now. And if what you just said is true, Ataru's made his choice. I'm prepared to live with it."
With that, she focuses on Megane. Before the bespectacled student could react, the naked Oni walks up to him. Grasping his hands, she lifts them up to lay them atop her horn-buds. "Tag," she whispers, staring into his eyes. "By the most sacred laws of my people, Aisuru Megane, by your touching my horns, we are now engaged to be wed. Will you have me as your wife?"
Megane gapes, then closes his eyes for a moment before his hands descend to grasp hers. "Lum-san, I...! Oh, jeez!"
"What?"
"I don't even know your family name..."
Lum blinks, then giggles. "It's Redet. That's my Imperial Oni name. Lum Redet."
He takes that in, then nods. "Alright, then. Lum Redet, may I be so honoured with your hand in marriage?"
"Yes, Darling, I'll marry you."
They consumate that declaration with a warm kiss. Shinobu stares at them, dumbfounded by what she had just heard and learned, yet unwilling to bring up any further arguments in the face of what Lum just said. Then, her cheeks flame as she sees Lum float a little bit into the air, then angle herself to allow Megane's still-erect cock to slide perfectly into Lum's damp love box. Realizing that anything she might say wouldn't be heeded further by the newly-engaged couple, she quickly gets out of the clock tower and...
