Ranma grabbed the bokken in one hand and scythed his foot at well over eye level. "Kuno-sempai! Long time no see! Something I can do for you?"
Kuno pried his head out of the dirt and held up a letter of challenge.
On the far side of the spectator crowd, Gosunkugi just shook his head. Kuno was good, but anyone could tell Ranma was in a different league entirely. What was Mara thinking? "Not like I have a choice," he snarled under his breath as the crowd dispersed.
Kuno was getting feeling back in his extremities when he heard the voice. "No matter how strong he is...every man has a weak spot. Find it...and he's finished."
Kuno rolled onto his side and looked at the creature Gosunkugi. "What are you?"
"Freshman, group F, Gosunkugi Hikaru. I sold you photos of the pigtailed girl."
"Ah! My love! I have failed to free her from the foul sorcerer!"
Gosunkugi twitched as Kuno described that fool Saotome with the honorable title of sorcerer, but he forced himself to let it pass. He'd hex Kuno after this mess was done. "Yes, that fool Saotome humiliated me as well."
"Truly, he is wicked indeed to further humiliate one as wretched as you."
It was going to be a wonderful hex. "...yes. Why do you not strike his weakness? I could help."
Kuno was on his feet, and Gosunkugi found himself hauled up by his shirt. "Are you mocking the great Kuno Tatewaki!? Do you think me so low as to strike my enemy's weakness in secret?"
"But...but..." Gosunkugi stuttered. This was not going according to script.
"What is Saotome's weakness?"
Gosunkugi gave up trying to follow Kuno-sempai's logic. "But you just said-"
"There is nothing cowardly about striking it openly."
"But I don't know what it is," Gosunkugi whined. Mara said nothing about doing recon first!
Mara smiled as she watched Gosunkugi squirm on her new high definition wide screen scrying crystal. "I know I didn't," she purred. She needed popcorn.
"Then find out, you idiot!" Kuno raged, striking Gosunkugi and sending him flying over Furinkan.
Gosunkugi considered his options. Mara said he couldn't let up, so he had to find out Ranma's weakness. The Tendos would be a logical first place to look. A spirit of hidden facts could be helpful if that didn't work, but they were always expensive to bargain with, and he was out of dragon blood. The Ever Alert had weird tastes. Nabiki might actually be his best option.
But that could wait. First he had an appointment with the ground.
THUD
Tendo Nabiki, Information Broker Gosunkugi winced at the slip of paper. The requested information has a market value of half a million yen. Given your actions, that price has been doubled. Nice try, Gosunkugi.
Tendo Kasumi, Yamato Nadeshiko "He's very protective of Nabiki."
Tendo Akane, Violent Maniac "He's a pervert!!"
The Tendo Family Pets "Bwee." "Growf." "I am not a pet!"
The Ever Alert "A yeti riding a bull carrying a snake and a crane. What do you mean, 'have I been drinking?'"
Kuno silently looked at the compiled information Gosunkugi had gathered and the rolls of pictures of Ranma posing at hidden cameras.
"I know," Gosunkugi said, taking Kuno's bokken from the wall and smacking his own head. "Ow."
"Do not touch my mighty weapon, knave."
"What's up, Gosunkugi?" Ranma asked. All those pictures were getting annoying. "Why'd you want me to come here?
"Saotome Ranma..." Kuno growled. "Just where do you think you are standing?!"
Ranma lowered a note to Kuno's eye level.
Saotome:
Meet me on top of Kuno-sempai's head in the training hall.
Gosunkugi.
Kuno twitched.
"Hyah!" Gosunkugi yelled, throwing open a box of snakes, frogs, bugs, and other things. "I think he's phobic about horrible creatures!"
Ranma blinked and looked at Kuno's comatose form.
Gosunkugi looked at the twitching rich boy. "Oh."
"Oh-ho," Ranma mused. "So you're looking for a weakness, ne? Don't waste your time. Nothing in this world can faze me."
Gosunkugi twitched and considered summoning anything just to shut that smug face up.
He didn't have the chance. "LIAR!" Kuno raged, hugging the animals to his chest. "Even Kuno Tatewaki is afraid of these things!"
Ranma sweatdropped. "Are you sure that's fear?"
Kuno smiled derangedly. "Let us make a wager, Saotome. If I uncover your weakness, you will allow me to date with the pigtailed spiritgirl."
"You got it, sempai!" Ranma promised with a laugh. No way you're ever learning about the nekoken.
