"Indeed," said the member of the Aburame clan.
"Well, we just have to see if the boy's reputation for finding trouble has a basis in reality," said a stone-faced Hiashi Hyuga.
"We got 'em! Three kunoichi from-a da Leaf Village!"
"All right, NOW we're talking," the rogue nin took a deep drag of his cigar and let out a puff that formed a money sign.
HONK HONK! went the horn of a third rogue nin.
"So what-a we do now, boss?" asked the first rogue nin.
"It's quite simple, Chico," said Groucho. "We deliver the goods to Kabuto and collect our pay."
"Yeah, but momma done told me, never trust-a no guy who plays too much with da snakes," said Chico.
HONK! agreed Harpo.
"That's why we deliver them in true ninja fashion," explained Groucho. "First, we let Harpo do all the talking."
HONK?
"Okay," corrected Groucho. "I'll do all the talking. You two do bunshin to accompany my kage bunshin who'll do the delivery. If they double cross us, we give the Leaf Village the information on where their kunoichi went. If they don't, then my kage bunshin will rejoin us with the cash. Then, because I'll have to do soldier pills to keep my chakra up, I'm going to sleep in the back of the wagon while we head with all due haste for the Iwa border."
Chico considered that for a few moments. "Same plan as before. I like-a dis plan. It no end up with us dead, that the mark of a good plan."
"I'm rather attached to my life myself," admitted Groucho, "I don't know how I'd live without it."
honk agreed Harpo.
"Honestly, I'd rather not have anything to do with Orochimaru myself, but we got away from him by promising to do this job for him," pointed out Groucho.
"Yeah, I know-a whatta you mean," said Chico. "So after this, where we go?"
"If Orochimaru pays us, we go to Iwa," said Groucho. "If he kills my kage bunshin? We run like scared rabbits in the opposite direction."
"I like-a dat plan too," said Chico. "It's a simple one. Less to go wrong. I can keep up one kage bunshin though for about an hour. Two of us be better, eh?"
A little later:
"I believe I said we wanted kunoichi from the Leaf Village," said Kabuto, frowning as he looked in the wagon.
"That's-a what I say all right," agreed Chico.
"Do this one look like a girl to you?" asked Kabuto.
"Are those eyebrows, or are those catepillars mating on his face?" asked Kote, a minor flunkie accompanying Kabuto.
"What, you want pretty girls?" asked Chico.
POP! went the kage bunshin as Kabuto sliced through it.
"Find the real ones, kill them," said Kabuto to Kote.
As the flunky went off on his mission of destruction, Kabuto looked at the three drugged-ninja. Well, he didn't have a lot of choices but to use them anyway.
"Uh oh," said Chico.
"I second your 'uh oh' and raise you a major alarm," said Groucho.
Harpo began pushing the raft off into the stream.
"We caught this kid while searching for those stooges," said Kote, holding the brat out at arm's length.
"You guys are in trouble now!" said the boy with the whisker marks on his face. "I've got you right where you want me. Err. Waitaminute. That wasn't right."
"I suppose one more experimental subject wouldn't hurt," said Kabuto. "I've already experimented with the kunoichi."
"What did you use on them?" asked Kote. "Not something like those cursed seal experiments I heard about is it?"
"Why, what did you hear?" asked Kabuto, only partially paying attention as he went through the genetic samples available.
"That every so often one of them would go nuts and start slaughtering all the guys running the experiments, busting restraints or chewing through their own limbs in order to get free," said Kote nervously as he went over events he'd heard of through the grapevine. "Those true?"
"No, no, no, not at all," said Kabuto. "Well, maybe, partly. A bit. Okay, mostly true, yeah."
"Erk," said Kote, not feeling good about that at all. Still, it was better to be one of the experimentERS than one of the experimentEES.
"No, these experiments are all involving cute, fluffy, harmless woodland creatures," said Kabuto as Kote tied the struggling boy to one circle. Kabuto put the chosen DNA sample on the other. "Let's see what happens if I use fox essence on fox-faced brats, shall we?"
