Restart Deluge! The Balance War: The Shinigami's crystal problem [Episode 232460]

by HistorianoftheKais

Captain-Commander Toshiro Hitsugaya look at the twelve captains of the Gotei 13 assembled in front of him. For a moment, the twenty something looking general frowned as he thought back to the good old days when when was the 10th Division's captain and only had to worry about Aizen trying to take over. Those days and most of the captains that had been in charge then were long gone.

Only a decade or so after Aizen's defeat, everything went to hell in a hand basket. A comet hit Earth sending the planet causing massive destruction and nearly turning Earth into an icy grave. Only Captain-Commander Yamamoto's sacrifice kept the planet habitable by raising temperatures enough for the comet's after effects to only be a massive ice age. Still, with a few weeks the Earth went from having a population of 7 billion humans to only a dozen or so million. The number of hollows that formed as a result nearly destroyed Soul Society. Every district of Rukongai above 20 was quickly reduced to hollow feeding grounds. The first 20 districts had only been saved thanks to Kisuke finding a way to turn the Sokyoku into a massive shield to protect those districts while the Gotei regroup and started training new Shinigami.

Despite how terrible those decades were, Toshiro was content that they had weathered that near apocalypse. A few things had changed as could be attested by the 3rd Division's current Captain Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck. The few more peaceful Arrancar who had survived the Winter War had joined Soul Society for security reasons. This move had turned out to be a life savor for the Gotei 13 even if it had been shocking.

Toshiro glanced over at his brother-in-law Captain Ichigo of the 10th Division and then at the other captains. "I've called you all here today because the 12th Division has discovered a problem that could grow to be as much of a problem as the Great Freeze was." Every Captain gulped at that news. Even after 100 years of relative calm, the 900 years of troubles caused by the Great Freeze still cast it's shadow over the captains. Toshiro then said, "Captain Kurotsuchi will now explain her findings for us."

Captain Washu Kurotsuchi, the result Kisuke and Nemu during a drinking bing early in the Great Freeze, stepped to the forefront in her favorite form of being a little girl. "Alright my fellow Captains, as General Whitey over here has informed you we've got a serious problem developing. The problem is that no one on Earth is dying anymore. At first no one, not even I the Greatest Scientist in the Universe, noticed this problem because of more pressing matters. However, I reexamined the data and since about 300 years ago people started to not die when they were supposed to die. It started in Japan around the old Tokyo area, but has now spread to the entire world."

Ichigo quickly spoke up. "How can that be? People just can't decide they don't want to die. Something would have to keep them from dying."

Washu smirked and replied, "Correct Captain Strawberry. Something is keeping humans from dying and that something is an artifact known as the Ginzuishou."
