There were comic books, though she was having trouble with the romanji, she'd learned to speak English in her travels because there was someone that spoke most everywhere they had traveled and she'd picked it up, but she'd never been around civilization much and the odd letters were giving her some difficulty.
She had gotten some videos as well, things Nabiki said she might like. They had a lot of Chinese actors like Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee and Michelle Yeoh. Ranma was looking forward to watching one of them later.
And they'd had an excellent meal, Ranma's appetite wasn't what used to be since she'd grown wings, but she still received comments about it. That food court thing was great, lots of different kinds of food all in one place. If she could contact Okonomiyaki Ucchan she'd love to tell him about, they needed an okonomiyaki cart there.
Nabiki had mostly stuck to Ranma during the trip, already working on building Ranma's confidence. While she had suggested things to Ranma, she let Ranma do the actually choosing, without pressuring her. Suggesting things like "oh there are some martial arts movies over there," and stuff like that. She had made the potential nightmare start to be something fun for Ranma and the girl had calmed down tremendously.
Nabiki herself had chosen an elegant style composed mostly of feminine slacks, t-shirts and sweaters. She'd also bought a few videos for herself, when the story looked interesting, and a couple of books as well. The American comics seemed set to appeal mostly to boys, and she had directed them to Ranma as already stated.
Akane had bought a lot of rather plain clothes, hardly anything that could be called pretty. She seemed rather satisfied, however, and once Rally started helping her choose, it became more of a style rather than just a collection of boxy clothes. And she did collect two nicer outfits for important events like, for instance, a sister's concert. Other than that, she'd gotten a cd player and a few cds, and was currently seeming to try to blow her eardrums out.
Kodachi had gone crazy on buying clothes, somehow assembling several outfits out of modern clothes that wouldn't have too out of place on a lady in a Charlotte Bronte book. She'd been to the bookstore as well, and collected some books on gardening, remembering her mother's gardens fondly.
Setsuna had found much advice coming to her from Nodoka, Haruka and Michiru. In the end she had picked several nice, conservative women's business suits (something she'd seen in her brief visit to the Time Gates), which received resigned groans from the other two senshi and a sigh of acceptance from Nodoka. She did choose longer skirts than had been her norm before losing her memory, however.
And now, night was drifting to a close. Haruka and Michiru had returned, reluctantly, to their hotel and Rally was giving Nodoka a quick drive around the neighborhood to orient her mother with things. Akane was in her chosen room, revelling in her new headphones. Kodachi and Setsuna were already asleep. Kodachi always liked to get to sleep early if possible, and Setsuna's day had been a slight bit more tiring than the rest of their's.
Nabiki was sitting with Ranma watching some of Ranma's movies. This "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" thing wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be. Though many of the stunts were tame compared to what she knew to be possible.
Mostly she wasn't watching the movie, however. Mostly Nabiki was sitting close to Ranma, and waiting. Waiting for Ranma to make a move. She was holding herself in inviting poses, as if unconscious, and she knew that she had caught Ranma's eye, but she was still waiting. It was important for Ranma to start this.
It was near the end of the movie, as the characters started coming to a cave, that Ranma leaned sleepily against Nabiki's shoulder. Nabiki smiled a bit at the clumsy move as Ranma shifted closer to her and nervously slipped an arm around her shoulders.
"Nabiki," Ranma said, softly. "Remember what you said earlier about tonight?"
"Now, Ranma," Nabiki said, in mock surprise. Ranma appeared to hesitate and back off, urging Nabiki quickly correct her statement. "Well, I don't mind, but what if Mom comes home."
"She wouldn't mind, I think," Ranma said, shifting around and nervously moving to sit in Nabiki's lap, facing her. Ranma's hands came up under Nabiki's arms as she lowered herself down to kiss the taller girl. Nabiki sighed pleasantly and gave in a desire to run her hands through Ranma's silky black hair.
"I guess she wouldn't mind," Nabiki said. "Would she?" Ranma smiled and shook her head, more certainly.
"No she wouldn't," Ranma repeated. And she dipped her head down to taste Nabiki's lips again, and duel with her tongue. Nabiki let her have the lead, deliberately, feeding her self-esteem as she did.
"Oh, Ranma," she muttered during a brief period of freedom for her tongue.
Ranma's fingers were not so skilled as her own, but she had, apparently absorbed a great deal from her one session with Kasumi. Nabiki was finding that she didn't have to do to much, hardly any actually, acting in order to boost Ranma's confidence.
Ranma's slender fingers were just working in under her pants and clutching her bare ass when the door swung open and the light from the facing streetlight washed over them. Ranma and Nabiki blinked in shock at the figure in the doorway.
"Don't..." the figure didn't get any further as Ranma moved off of Nabiki and had him pinned against the wall the gun out of his hand.
"You don't move," Ranma said. Which was when Rally came back with their mother.
"Hi Roy," Rally said, embarrasedly. "I thought you were gone for a lot longer."
((Yes, Ranma has black hair, deal with it))
