At which point Sakura Haruno smacked Naruto upside da head. "Idiot! He still hasn't said to begin-"
The spell twisted, shifted, and erupted towards where Naruto's hands were now pointed.
Sasuke Uchiha managed to look thoroughly unhappy before the miscast spell grounded itself through him.
"Okay, it worked," said Naruto, yawning as he entered the Hokage's office.
"You somehow saved Sasuke's life? Despite him being literally vaporized?" asked Kakashi Hatake from his position.
"It is as he says, Captain, Hokage-sama," said one of the three ANBU entering behind Naruto.
"We watched the process, and saw Uchiha reform, but -"
The Hokage looked sharply at the ANBU whose voice had trailed off. "But?"
"Look, it was complicated," said Naruto. "Literally thousands of things that could go wrong. Small chance of success, and even then only possible because of the way the spell had misfired. It's supposed to be millions to one against."
"So is Sasuke Uchiha alive or not?" asked Kakashi.
"The book said that nobody who crosses the river of the dead can return unchanged," said Naruto. "That appears to be true. Okay, Sasuke, come in."
The Hokage, Kakashi, and the two ANBU who had not been set to watching Naruto perform those odd rituals all stared as Sasuke Uchiha entered. Except that he was now:
