Everything still looked normal in the restaurant by the time Kodachi and her retainer finally arrived back at Ucchan’s. The place didn’t look like it was the ground zero for a major magical spell. The hour or two to prepare for her Love's rescue was not in vain. Fate was on her side this night. It it would appear that they were in time!
They both quickly entered the building and began their search for the store safe. It actually was fairly easy; almost disappointingly so. Sasuke found a small desk set up in the back storeroom. Near it was a medium sized combination safe. Her family retainer quickly got out a stethoscope and started the arduous task of spinning the tumblers.
“Got it!” Sasuke finally said after what seemed like an eternity to Kodachi. She reached out to open the safe door, but the ninja grabbed her hand and pointed to something with his flashlight. “My apologies Mistress, but I see a metal catch in the crack of the door. I think it might be a trap.” He opened the safe door a bit and used a small mirror to look inside. “Looks like it pulls a pin that sets off something. Could be anything from an alarm to a bomb. I'm having a little trouble getting the latch unhinged though. Give me a few more minutes.”
“Time we can't afford to lose! Use this to dissolve it,” Kodachi commanded as she unstopped her vial of acid and handed it out to the diminutive ninja. He nodded his head as he rummaged through his tools. Sasuke gingerly used long forceps to maneuver the vial. A small glass rod directed a few dripped drops and the acid was soon doing its work. She carefully rewrapped the acid vial as they waited for the hissing liquid to dissipate. Sasuke looked about once more with his mirror and nodded that all was clear.
Kodachi couldn’t wait any longer and pushed the ninja out of the way. He watched her for a second as she torn through the papers and finally decided that his place was to be a lookout for the door. “How many invoices can such a small eatery as this generate,” she said to herself in frustration. Wait, there in the back was an old envelope sealed with wax. On the envelope written in a child’s handwriting was the words ‘He promised to take care of me forever!’. There were smile faces and stars around the kanji. She could feel some sort of paper inside the envelope. It didn’t look magical to her eyes, but it must be it!
Now all she had to do was free her Ranma-sama. Sasuke followed as she made her way upstairs and slowly opened the door. The Kuno girl’s blood boiled when she saw her beloved entwined with the cook in their sleep. Forcing down her rage, she turned to tell the ninja to help her sneak her beloved out of there. The small noise was enough to cause the sleeping pair to stir. She froze as the cook’s eyes met hers and then widened.
“Kodachi!” Ukyo cried out. Ranma woke up and looked about in confusion. Kodachi realized that stealth was no longer possible; threw a paralysis bomb.
The Black Rose laughed as the poisonous cloud cleared to reveal two twitching forms. She walked over to Ukyo’s prone form and turned her over. “I know what you and that disgusting pigtail tailed girl were planning to do to Ranma-sama,” she said as she waved the envelope in front of the cook’s face.
She watched as the peasant's eyes lit in recognition and then fear. “I’ll find out how this holds him in thrall and free him of your spell. Don’t fret that your twisted efforts will go to waste. I’ll enjoy his embrace until he is able to give them to me of his own free will!” Kodachi triumphantly said while she grabbed Ranma and ran for the exit. Her laughter rang out in victory when she and Sasuke reached the streets.
