There was a flash of light as the wish went through the system parameters of the DAO mainframe.

[Multiple Wish - Negative. Pass]

[Life & Death - Negative. Pass]

[Overly Complex - Negative. Pass]

[Global in Scope - Negative. Pass]

[Processing Wish... Analysis: Lycanthropy for subject desired.]

[Scanning Options... Done. Temporal Probability Altered...]

[Working... Working... Working... ... Wish Complete.]

[Record of Wish Save. Recalling Genie... Done.]

After verifying that the wish didn't violate any of the rules, it started looking for options. First, it analyzed the current world for forms of lycanthropy, and estimated the energy cost for various methods of transmission. There were a few, but the energy cost would be high - either a lycanthrope would have to be transported and coerced to bite the subject, or the subject would have to be completely transformed. Next, it looked for a nearby world-template in which the subject already HAD lycanthropy. Finding one that had a good energy-gradient, it used the Other-Ranma as a template to 'shift' the Native-Ranma, and then verified it's work for accuracy and completeness. Then it went back to sleep.

Meanwhile, Ranma shuddered and fainted, as his entire being changed... ever so slightly. In the world two doors down (or the dimensional equivalent), a world of darkness that was inevitably spiralling down to an age of death and disaster, there was another Ranma, a young shapeshifter, ignorant (so far) of his heritage...
